I keep telling myself that I can practice practice practice my maneouvres like mad, and at least my overall driving was fine! I am quite pleased with how well my driving went. I was sure I would stall at every junction!

I feel ok about it - more miffed that I have to pay for more lessons and another test to be honest as it means adjusting my budget slightly.

Stick at it though, having a licence to drive is one of the most liberating things I've achieved. It's amazing how much easier it's made things and how much more accessible the world seems...

Oh I will - this is 4th driving instructor I have had as I started having lessons 10 years ago aged 17. I stopped and started so many times, then had kids, and now I want to do it so I can drive them around. I won't let it put me off. I have come too far. Plus my parents are paying for half my lessons ;)

just remembered my second test - which I passed.

I did a pants reverse around a corner and when I got back to the test centre, the guy (a Mr McKay, all I could think was Porridge) said I had passed but I should make sure I practised my reversing quite a bit before I decided to do it up a driveway.........ahem......whoops....my instructor said it was because I had the slot just before lunch if I had failed then it would have eaten into his lunch as he would have had more paperwork to fill in than if he had passed me!! Erm , thanks for the vote of confidence driving instructor!!!

October.......is it possible to request a cancellation? Is that still done?

I can look for a cancellation, but my instructor is on his holidays from 11th Sept to 5th Oct anway, so I couldn't do it then. You also can't take your test within 10 days or something of failing, so that doesn't leave much option for a cancellation really. To be honest, October is fine. The roads will be quieter round here as we are a touristy spot, and I can get loads of practice in my own car and a few more lessons to perfect my maneouvres. The only possibility is my friend has a test booked but the instructor isn't sure she will be ready, so I may grab her spot :)

I completely panicked and drove out for him to shout "WATCH THAT CAR!" and stamp on the dual controls. Kind of knew I'd failed after that!

:rotfl: The worst one I ever heard of was when the driving examiner made the learner park the car while he got out and rang the driving instructor to come and pick the car up as he wasn't prepared to "risk my life driving another yard with this incompetent fool"!!!!
I let my mind wander and it never came back!
  • sorry to hear that missspendalot... bet you will pass with flying colours next time :D
