  • Oh what a shame. That's a bit of a downer isn't it? But never mind, onwards and upwards. Just see it as experience for next time. Next time you WILL pass!

Hey not to worry, that's a really minor thing to fail on (meaning at least you didn't mount a kerb and nearly knock an old dear over or something like that!!). Only 5 minors is good going too, so at least you know you're a good driver and it was just unlucky on the day.

Were you a bundle of nerves as you thought or were you alright once you were on the go?

Oh nooo, sorry to hear that Mrs. S. It really annoys me that touching the kerb is a failing offence when it's such common practice among qualified drivers. Especially with so few minors, you'd think they'd let you off! Are you going to put straight in for another test? I know it's hard when you've built yourself up for a test only to fail, but I think it helps to climb straight back on the horse as it were, to keep the momentum going. xx

Yep am going to put straight back in for my test - the online thing won't let me do it yet though. I was a bag of nerves, trembling all the way round. It was awful. Funnily enough as soon as I knew I had failed, I calmed down and my nerves went.

Sorry to hear you failed, I cried like a baby when I failed mine and never went in for it again that was erm - far too many years ago! Shame really because I love driving!

At least you didn't get a verbal intervention - I did! And no it wasn't "help"

    Good luck for next time!

    Hi mrsspendalot,

I was going to say that. Obviously I passed the second time! At least on your test you didn't do what I did. The instructor told me to get in the left hand lane at a roundabout, I panicked and got into the right. He said "Well, I did actually say left so now you'll have to go all the way round the roundabout". I completely panicked and drove out for him to shout "WATCH THAT CAR!" and stamp on the dual controls. Kind of knew I'd failed after that!

Second time I pulled out of the test centre and had to slam on the brakes as a car was coming (was indicating to turn in where I was coming out but it didn't). I assumed I'd failed and sauntered round the rest of the test. When it got to the questions at the end (in the days before the written theory test) I said I didn't know to most of them (stroppy teenager!!).

I could have died when he said I'd passed! He said the reason he didn't fail me for nearly pulling out in front of the car was that it was indicating to turn in so I'd made a logical assumption (though OH maintains to this day I should have failed as you're supposed to wait for the car to make a movemnet to turn in). I still maintain the only reason I passed was that I was so relaxed thinking I'd failed anyway!

Anyway, never mind, it sounds like there's not a lot wrong with your driving - better luck next time!

Sorry Mrs S that's rotten luck. My instructor told me half an hour before my test to pray that a reverse round a corner didn't come up for me as he'd only ever seen me do 1 he was happy with... it turned out he felt guilty taking my money when I could do everything else ok (ish) and so put me in and hoped it didn't come up! Luckily it didn't- but it seems so unfair. Now I've passed and I've not ONCE needed to reverse round a corner.

Please make sure you rebook asap- with only 5 minors you're obviously a much better driver than I am. And next test it's less likely to come up too- odds and all that. Best of luck to you x
