Shop assistants who don't bl**dy listen

I was in my local morrisons petrol station , lateish in an evening , I weas on a motorcycle , I was wearing a helmet and full motorcycle gear , there was one other vehicle , a taxi (black cab).
I put about couple of gallons of fuel into the bike , and went in to pay.
she (shop assistant) looked at me (helmetted , but with flip up) and said , "which one are you" ???
so I said "I,m in the black cab", left £15 and walked out.0 -
Trust me, it is autopilot. There are customers, however, who do look at you until you've said the price.
It was the 'altogether' that I found amusing.
Not surprising, as in a lot of shops people usually buy several items at once.
I'm pretty sure I heard this for many years before I once noticed it, but now I notice it every time it's said. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -
many years ago when i worked at McDonalds, we were told we had to ask about cheese on plain burgers, because they had problems with a number of customers asking for plain cheeseburgers and plain quater with cheese, but expecting no cheese on it.
i have no idea why people ask for a cheeseburger when they dont want cheese, but they do.
theres also the problem that you may not have heard the complete order, so you need to clarify. It can get pretty noisy and difficult to hear at times0 -
What on earth has that got to do with shop assistants?
All of your examples are from catering outlets!
I can imagine they just do things to clarify due to the amount of stupid people they get.
"Shop
ʃɒp/
noun
1.
a building or part of a building where goods or services are sold."
Seems to fit the description.0 -
It cuts both way.
I work in customer support and the inability of some people to follow the simplest of instructions is a constant source of frustration to me.0 -

It doesn't really though does it. Nobody in their right mind would think that a restaurant or cafe was a shop.
I went to gaucho grill the other night. That's an expensive Argentinian steak restaurant that technically fits your definition above. I still however would look like an idiot if I referred to it as a shop....0 -

For the purposes of the thread it does.
Would you rather I renamed it "Shop assistants (and hotel staff/waiters/mechanics/anyone else who works in a service role who has to deal with customers) who don't bl**dy listen"?0 -
I once asked for chips No cheese please. confused the hell out of the assistant lol.I came into this world with nothing and I'm gonna leave with nothing.0

MY pet hate is the person who telephones ME
to speak to ME
and then asks me
" can you confirm your full name and address?"
well YES I can confirm it............................
BUT they then wait for me to TELL them my full name and address
I can ONLY CONFIRM it - IF they tell me it first....................
gets them EVERY time...............0
