I know. I work for them. We've never had 15% for the whole of December - its usually just after Xmas, into the new year. Again, same at Easter. At most it's a week, never two or a whole month.

I'm actually going to work for Tesco at the end of the month - better money and incentives.

Why is tesco better?

Think Sainsburys is minimum wage possibly? Tesco is £7.20 an hour. You can get discounts at other places too with your privilege card like 20% off at frankie and Bennies, but you don't get the card until you've worked there 6 months

I think Sainsburys wage is about 11p p/h less than Tesco.

Money mainly - I will be on £7.02 compared to £7.08 at Sainsburys, but you get Sunday premiums and shift allowance between 10pm and 12pm - they have offered me 4 x 8pm-12pm shifts, including a Sunday. So how do Morrisons and Asda compare to the others? Is it correct that Lidle and Aldi pay more but require harder work?

I've worked at ALDI as a store assistant and at Sainsburys as a delivery driver so the two roles were quite different. It's true ALDI do expect more work out of their staff but in return they do pay more per hour.

I worked at ALDI ten years ago and I remember that although I was part time I was earning nearly as much as somebody in full time at another supermarket. I got a store bonus each month which made quite a difference, if was calculated by how much waste the store had each month i.e out of date items that had to be binned and broken items

Personally I would'nt base my preference on how much discount the company offers. I think there's other things that are much more important, holiday, pension, sick pay, promotion opps but your wife may be a totally different age to me

Morrisons have scrapped their annual profit share bonus for employees, and their share save scheme isn't the best as you get no bonus on it unlike other schemes.

Discount card is 10% upto a limit of £1K a year but I highly doubt the average employee will blow £10K in store in a year. Unless you are handing it around to to all your friends.

Depends on what you need to buy. As a single person Waitrose comes out pretty cheap after my 15% discount compared with the big four but I'd imagine a young family wouldn't find it particularly competitive.

I think 10% discount in any of the supermarkets is a wonderful bonus, even if you are on min wage, most of your income after housing goes on household expenses and if you buy everything from wherever you get 10% discount it is a mighty big help. Especially if you combine it with all the other benefits of doing all your household expenses at that same place, like nectar points or club card points or whatever.

So it's not clear who the winner is then? They are all pretty similar?
