14p to the sealed pot today. Also, put in £2.08 yesterday. It is all coming together nicely.

Got another £5 voucher from Mr M. That will probably be the last one for a few weeks though as that is all the points collected and paid out to me. Ooh, ooh and I was £7 under budget for the groceries yesterday!! :D

    That's it today :)
    Mortgage at 12/07/2022 = £175,000
    Mortgage today = £161,690.76
    300 271 payments to go.
    House buyout fund £21,000/£40,000

Just read through your thread, you sound so determined and I think your story shows that sometimes there can be worthwhile reasons for getting into debt. Your interest rate is really good on your loan too, I'm jealous! You've definitely got a plan and I will be following with interest!

Hi lcc86, thank you for posting :)

I am very, very determined. It's funny, 8 years ago I was in so much trouble with money and couldn't see a way out. I had no idea what to do. Managed to get a consolidation loan (I do not recommend this for people, I know the trouble it can cause. It worked for me because I have a serious amount of self-control) and things kind of took off from there. I then found MSE and my confidence has just grown so much. I am completely obsessed with my finances!

My interest rate is so low because I have spent a very long time building up a good credit history. My loan is with the bank I have my current account with. It was an offer they had on two months ago. I have been with them since I was 15 (it's not a loyalty thing, it has just worked out that way. I now have the Reward Current Account and get £5 per month from them!) and never had any problems with them.

Forgot to mention earlier, I found 1p when I parked the car at home yesterday. I got out and it was just lying there, begging me to pick it up. So I did of course :D It wants to make friends with the others in my sealed pot so as soon as I remember to take it out of my pocket, I will pop it in. LMG scoffed at me. Me: "Ooh there's 1p on the ground!" LMG (in that voice that teenagers have when they are taking the mick out of you): "Haha are you going to pick it up? OMG you are aren't you?" Me: "Yes, of course. Why wouldn't I?" LMG: *shakes head*
Which reminds me, when I went into my bedroom the other day she had left something on my bed (think it was the post but I can't remember now) and on top she had left 3 x 1p's! Well, more fool you honey! My greedy pot is happy to eat them :) I am trying to teach her that every penny counts and for the most part she is quite good but she is not bothered about coppers!

I know I mentioned the Mr M vouchers earlier but to confirm (so I can check back on this if I need to) I am now up to £55.

Oh, and today is two months since I took the loan out. Balance today is:

    £19,068.20
    Mortgage at 12/07/2022 = £175,000
    Mortgage today = £161,690.76
    300 271 payments to go.
    House buyout fund £21,000/£40,000

LOL re the 1ps and LMG.........you're training her well though and in years to come she too will not be embarrassed to pick up money she has found on the ground, hope he will be a happy penny in your pot mingling with all his long lost friends!

Re your new job, of course you will be scared and you may even have a lump in your throat and shed a tear or two on your last day at work, but it's EXCITING starting a new job and all the challenges a new job brings and more money, well that's got to be good right?! And worse case scenario, if the job isn't for you, and there's no reason it shouldn't be right, but if it isn't (been there and done that), then you'll just get another job that is for you. What will be will be. I know what you mean though about being a bit, what's the word I'm looking for..........not possessive, but proud of what you've achieved in your work, and proud of how well you run things etc, I'm the same, and I hate if anyone comes in and messes up my running like clockwork cashroom (I also work in accounts in a legal office and in Scotland too LOL, so I know where you are coming from - no-one wants a bad Law Society Inspection now do they?!) P xx

I have just read through your new-ish diary and I am so impressed.

Passing exams, buying out your house, a new job with a payrise and the focus and control of your finances. You're a legend!

He is delighted to be there. He got such a warm welcome too. They had "Fizz Thursday" in the pot because they were so excited to get a new friend (did I mention the new office has "Fizz Friday" a couple of times a month?? :D)

I will probably be bawling the last day. I have already cried three times and that was just the first couple of days after handing my notice in. I don't like people touching my cashroom because I don't trust anyone to do it right :o Yes, you're right, no one wants a bad Law Society Inspection and I am incredibly proud of our last one (August last year) because it went so well and I actually learned a lot from it. What a coincidence you do the same as me! :)

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Thank you banwa but I don't think I'm quite at that level just yet! I'm keen to see how you're getting on though so keep posting away on your diary please :)

Hi mummy :hello: thank you very much! I had to start a new diary; new loan, new chapter! I'm trying to catch up with all the diaries I got behind with when I took my mse break so I will be popping into your diary more often now :)

It's raining :( but it's Friday :j There is a lovely wee VW campervan parked outside my office window :p I love those, they are so cute looking.

I am hanging on to the money in my purse as I am on the coffee's this weekend so no potting at the moment.

Paid £4.67 across to the loan today.

Think it's chicken enchiladas for tea tonight. LMG used some chicken yesterday and I meant to check that she had stored it in the fridge properly but I forgot :o She will have put it on the bottom shelf but I am picturing 3ft of cling film wrapped around the chicken tray!

Off to catch up with other diaries before I have to do more work notes.

    Have a great weekend all!

  • Hey hon

Littley's school does a copper Pudsey each Children in Need so I put all my coppers in a pot & then send them in with her. That way I don't need to scrape around looking for some on the day. I forgot one year and she had to stay in class and wasn't allowed to join in. Was so angry at the school - what a way to treat 6yr olds. Have always ensured she has money each year after.

Have a great day! :) xx

Aww sassy, I'm feeling quite emotional at the moment and that has brought tears to my eyes :( I get really upset when I hear about people being mean to kids. They could have let her join in and spoken to you about it quietly later. Some parents can't even manage to donate but that doesn't mean the kids should be left out, it's not their fault so why should they be treated differently? It used to be like that when I was at school (I don't think it ever actually happened to me but I remember other kids in the class being left out) but times have changed so much (eh...it was a long time ago!) I'm surprised they're allowed to do that these days. Ooh I could rage about it all day  Meanies! Poor wee one xx

All accounts are updated. I spent a wee bit over the weekend but not too much and all within the correct budgets. I have £5 of last week's grocery budget left and £5 in my pocket money purse (to last until Thursday).

We didn't have the chicken enchiladas as LMG didn't store the chicken correctly (I forgot to check and if I had I could have saved it - she has been taught now, it wasn't really her fault. She asked me to check). Paella tonight (was lovely last time :))

LMG has shellac stuff so she did my nails yesterday. They keep breaking and I want them to look nice for starting the new job. Saves me a fortune not getting them done professionally, although I did pay for most of the stuff! Totally worth it though and she is really good at it :D

    Have a good Monday all.
