  • With FD they allow you to save £300/month with 6% interest, around my target for o/p/saving.

Yeah guys I have to say there is a host of 6% and 5% savings accounts.

TSB, First Direct and M&S are some. Check the main MSE Page on savings to find them all.

Some do have conditions that are pretty easy to loophole, so be savvy and go from 0.25% to 6%

I will be once I hit 2017 and hit my overpayment threshold.

    MvM
    Baby Step 1 - £1k Emergency Fund - COMPLETE
Baby Step 2 - Pay off all debts except the Mortgage - £9,326 to go
Baby Step 3 - Save 6 months of expenses into full Emergency Fund - £4,300 to go

Baby Step 4 - Put 15% into Pension
Baby Step 6 - Pay off the Mortgage early
    Baby Step 7 - Live like no-one else :D
  • . . . . . And as a bit of fun, "Your Mortgage" comes up, then asks if you want to re-name it, so I have - "8 Years and counting",:D with the thought of updating it every 6 months or so.:D

This way I'll see the balance and the term reduce.

Only trouble is now my interest rate is low 1.79%, I'm getting 3% on my savings, asking myself if I should o/p or save.

Glancing through my diary, came across this post from 1 year ago (nearly) :) So 1 Year on, it should read,

    7 Years and counting . . . . . but instead reads . . . . .

    5 Years, 5 months . . . . and counting :j :dance::dance::dance::dance::dance:

  • Fantastic progress :T :T
  • Thank You.

That's 19 months extra off my mortgage in the last year :eek: How on earth, did I manage that ?

According to "What's the cost" if I keep o/p same and interest rate stays the same, which is not going to happen, I could (Dream On) be mortgage free by December 2019.

    A girl can dream . . . . . . . . .

I don't know...I don't see interest rates rising anytime soon. Certainly not before we officially Brexit. I reckon they might even go down to 0% (which will totally !!!!!! us all over if we have savings). So, I think it's entirely feasible that December 2019 could happen :T
