Phoned the ins company re my chromebook, they tell me its not a d/d  its a credit card regular monthly payment :eek: seems when I paid the 1st instalment using my debit card they just kept hold of my card details and deducted every month :eek: I had no idea they were allowed to do this, never heard of it before.
And since I have now switched, they had the payment request declined :rotfl: I have no idea to the wrongs and rights of this type of transaction
I now have a Carrot cake and Chocolate cake
New council tax notice arrived in post today - up £1
Looked at building ins
and had to hide my Banoffee Chocolate egg as it keeps shouting "try me i'm delicious" :rotfl:

Yes, I think they can take your card details and take a set amount every month. I haven't kept up recently but I presume you've changed banks and all the direct debits switched but this payment didn't. I believe the same thing would happen had your bank sent you a new card too. Ask them to set up a direct debit would perhaps be the best idea?2018 totals:

Good luck with your list!
If you are donating stuff to charity...do you have a Salvation Army shop near you? I went in the other week and they said if I buy a bag for 99p and fill it with donations and take it back, they will give me a new free bag and put a £2 stamp on a card for me. The £2 stamp is redeemable in their shop. This is good news for me as I do tend to buy from charity shops. There is room on the card for 5 stamps so for every 5 bags of donations you get £10 worth of stamps to spend in store.
I'm in the throws of filling a bag up now. I'm due to go up that way next week so will pop it in then.

Well, I never. This is frightening, never heard about this before, it should have been a d/d.If you are donating stuff to charity...do you have a Salvation Army shop near you? Yes TC I have a shop fairly near to me, trouble is I would have to buy about 6 bags  to fill everything in them

Its called a continuous payment authority. Here's a link for some more info:

They can be pretty nasty if you get into financial problems (payday loans being the big one). My mum works as admin at CAB debt unit and she's told me some horror stories (anonymously of course) about these. There used to be very little protection from them as well as you've given them permission to take money from your account. I don't believe its as regulated as D/Ds.0 -

I have loads of stuff too. I just sort it out one bag at a time. I take a bag full, I come home, I start sorting another bag full out, then next time I'm passing, I drop it off.GE 36 *MFD may 2043
