    Good morning AFK.

I do not work for them ( as you know) but I can highly recommend first direct. I have banked with them for 5 years now.

Great news of the spare account find.

    Bexster :)
  • Thanks Bexster, looking for someone that will pay a good interest rate, as one day very soon, will need to save all my o/p's till i'm allowed to op again. Will look into them.

Today started with snow, so now the hills are full, its lovely. Didn't have Doris visit, although wind blowing a gale the night before. Looking forward to the weekend, have lots to do - more organising - can't wait.

No, going to set up 2 DD's then use that account to switch to another account - which will reward me with a switching bonus, which I will then use to o/p. So £15 odds will make me approx £100-£150 depending on which bank I choose to switch to. Then will o/p the "free" money

I'm completely confused by this. :rotfl:
    2018 totals:
    Savings £11,200
    Mortgage Overpayments £5,500
  • Bills are heavy this month, paying out nearly all my salary  but I'll survive :rotfl:
So decided to o/p my odds again, which is £22.22

You can tell its payday for many - 5 parcels to post :) must get some more listing done tonight, won't sell just lying around my spare rooms.

Just o/p £118.25, which will do for now. Seems I am not allowed to jump ship and enter a new deal without penalties (was told different over the phone) so my patience will have a very long wait, don't know how to cope with not being allowed to o/p (could hit my allowance today, but then what do I do? - save - it's just not the same as o/p) :(

Another expense was 2 new pairs of specs, although save £££'s by going to the local @sda, b00ts quoted over £400 a pair, @asda's was just £119 for 2 pairs, although if I hadn't improved :jI would have got help, like I did last year :rotfl:

Still listing/uploading photos on the bay the very long way :(, one day the penny will drop. Slow, but by the end of the month I've probably got[STRIKE] rid[/STRIKE] sold one a day :j

Have just remembered I never, ever, got a reply about claiming for washing my own uniform so will be onto that tomorrow, before we enter the new tax year.

And, now thinking of holidays  thinking is the word.

Away to list more on the bay, seems that's all I do these days, but got a nice offer in with 50% off fees if sold, too good to miss.

    Hello AFK.

I disagree re: saving. I find a good way is to have several ( I think three at the moment) regular savers. This way the money goes out every month and you don't have to think about it. Also, I think mine are 5-6% interest if you don't take the cash out all year. Not sure how long your current fix is, but might help motivate you a bit.

    Bexster :)

Fix is until 1st Nov this year, I still have my very small monthly isa, in which I got the grand sum of 50p interest :D and if you think that's bad I got 1p - yes a whole penny for my other one :rotfl:

Not sure if there is any accounts that will give you that rate of 5 or 6% interest now.

Last year, I done a similar saver for my o/p when I wasn't allowed to pay anymore, but come Jan 1st the intention was to o/p it all, had I done, I would have reached my 10% by end of last month  :j:j but something held me back :o

Need to get a grip and make a decision soon, very soon.

A Lovely sunny day here today - again, and I'm off on another day's a/l today :j ironing done, bed changed, washing on and will be able to "peg out" :D (that's for you Hiddenshadow :rotfl:)

Need to go to PO (another 4 parcels) and pop into @ldi's for basics, then it'll be time for lunch and a tidy up in the garden.

Oh, something big might happen today, so need everyone to send good vibes this way. :A

First Direct 5% - needs a funded current account.

Also NWide Flex Direct Current Account pays 5% for one year. They also have a regular saver at 5%.

    Getting harder to find though!!!!

    Thanks GG

I have both of those and a Santander which regular saver rate escapes my memory. Though as my current account rate was HALVED in November with them, I imagine the new regular saver rate is also significantly reduced.
