Well, the point I was trying to make in this thread that its interesting to see how some cars, even with their masses of power, cannot put it all down efficiently to the tyres. Typically the American muscle cars with their 650hp plus engine still perform poorly in quarter mile times.

We all know which is the best accelerating car in the world.
It is the A3, but not any of your high spec'd engine A3s, just your bog standard basic, as cheap as you can get A3, but with the go faster badge on the grill.0 -

Since when was the 2.0 TDI 'basic; and as 'cheap as you can get'
What constitutes as basic? The Audi A3 was all about options like the BMW. You cannot say the BMW 'SE' version is cheap and basic compared to the M Sport because the SE can be spec'd for more options if desired. Choosing between the BMW SE and M Sport will depend on whether you want a firm ride or a comfortable cruiser. Likewise to the Audi A3 SE and A3 Sport or the later S line. My A3 still has extra options like cruise control, auto light and rain sensors, rear view dimming mirror, upgraded speakers and radio and rear parking sensors.
The main differences between the Sport over the SE are the fog lights, slightly lower/stiffer suspension and slightly bigger alloys. The main differences between the SE over the Sport are interior luggage and storage pack, interior lighting pack, front centre arm rest etc.
The SE and Sport used to be the same price and you just chose which you preferred.
If you're cruising on the motorway all the time you'll choose the SE over the sport for its comfort, simple. One isn't 'better' than the other, it depends on your preferences.
If you mean 'cheap' as in entry level engine than that would be the 1.6 litre petrol NA with NO options- which my car is far from.0 -
