I can see what they're trying to do.
http://www.ukcalling.info//whats-happening
However, I've raised something totally different from what they've discussed there.
People should already be aware of the changes, as your phone company probably should have written to you. However, sometimes these things get forgotten, filed or not read properly, so hopefully I've reminded you!0 -
Anyway, I wasn't going to post about phone cost changes or rant about them:rotfl::rotfl:, but just got onto it by mentioning about the 00800 (whatever that is) number for the 'problems' I had earlier.
On that, goodnight folks!!
[EDIT: 00800 numbers - a quick search - apparently, international freephone calls and therefore free from landlines, supposedly, I am told. And presumably free from mobiles as of now, although they haven't mentioned this prefix on UKCalling and therefore it's now been left unclear as far as I can see.]
[EDIT 2: In fact - http://www.ukcalling.info/freephone - says "The change only [my emphasis] affects 0800 and 0808 numbers." So, presumably, it does not include 00800 numbers and therefore they are, potentially, still charged for from mobiles.]
[EDIT 3: musing more. Saying it only affects 0800 and 0808 appears specifically to exclude 00800 numbers. Yet aren't they, as freephone numbers, although international freephone numbers, still classed as "service numbers"? So, therefore, "To find out how the cost of calling other ‘service’ numbers is changing – those starting 084, 087, 09 and 118 – see the frequently asked questions page." applies, which refers back to the FAQs and doesn't mention 00800 at all! (Did they forget?) I'm now unclear - I'm unclear about the cost of 00800 from mobiles even though :rotfl: I don't really use a mobile at all myself.]
In fact the FAQs include this:
Which numbers are affected?
The cost of calling service numbers starting 084, 087, 09, and 118 will be made clearer. The cost of these numbers will be split into two pieces: the access charge and the service charge. Calls to landlines and mobiles are not affected. Neither are calls from payphones, international calls, or calls to the UK when roaming overseas.
Meanwhile, Freephone numbers beginning 0800 or 0808 will be made free for consumers to call from mobiles.
Which doesn't mention 00800 and seems clear that international calls, such as 00800, aren't affected. So don't go ringing Nestle's complaints line on the milk coupons from a mobile:rotfl:. I notice how the UKCalling website didn't say they were making the cost of calling Freephone clearer:rotfl:.
(It does say:
What is happening with Freephone calls from mobiles?
Calls to numbers beginning 0800 or 0808 will be made free from consumers’ mobiles and landlines, making things much clearer. ...
However, that does not mention 00800 and therefore doesn't say anything about that, as a "Freephone" number, being clearer at all.)0 -
The images (and some meta data if you look at the html) on tesco website have the BC in the url, open the image in a new tab and pop the numbers into a barcode generator
(last digit is checksum digit which some barcode generators calculate automatically
I don't know what im doing wrong:(
I gathered you are on chrome whereas I usually use IE, but I have done everything as you said (I done it on chrome) got the same images as you have but when I put the numbers into the barcode gen. I don't get the right code:(
are these the right numbers you used or am I missing something? I have already uploaded my receipt so I am only practising

Right, remember to put your clocks back soon:rotfl: (unless they adjust automatically):
http://en.ntvbd.com/sci-tech/5626/Leap-second:-Have-you-heard-of-it/print
"To be clear [:mad::mad:that word again:rotfl:], the leap second is not something that needs to be added to that old clock on your mantlepiece."
Yes it is:p. Otherwise, that "...old clock on [the] mantlepiece" is inaccurate!!:p So, it does need to be added, absolutely, desperately:rotfl::rotfl: (but not yet (as at time of last amendment)... only after it's happened of course).
Takes longer than a second writing this all out:rotfl:, so  lost far more time. Saying that, they spent several minutes on the news at lunchtime talking about the matter, far longer than the second itself!0 -
Evening all. Got back from a night out in central London to find I had to walk the dog. Just managed to do it before the rain started.
Here's a choon that celebrates today's weather.

So, their refusal on the milk has cost me this:mad::mad::
Oh Dear!
You don't have 8 different items, including 1 comparable item in your basket. We can't compare your shop this time around, but please try again next time!
Remember, for an item to count towards the 8 different item limit it must have been available on ASDA.com on the day you shopped.
:mad: I did buy 9 different items including the milk, so should have been left with 8. Oh well, cost me about £1.27:rotfl:. If I had have got it, it wouldn't worth bothering travelling back to them to use - so, I think I'll give them up completely (folks may have noticed I've not been bothering much with A). I now happen to live farther away from my A than I did before (moved at some point without telling you all - for a while, with glitches, it was worth travelling out to them) so, in the absence of glitches, I've concluded not even worth bothering travelling out to them anymore as the petrol cost is greater than the 10% (a few pence off lower value items that I tend to buy). I've never liked the new system anyway. Only consolation is the shop was originally paid for with an APG.
I think the SP Minced Beef & Veg. Pasty might not count, as it is called SP "Cornish Pasty" on a.com. It did appear on the old system from msm, and compared against T, but probably doesn't appear on the new one. So, buy Eday Value version in T!:p Can be used as a filler vs A as neutral comparison (38p vs 38p). The item was available on a.com on the date of my shop, but it is under a different name.
A quid or two? Who cares? (:eek:I'm getting reckless!)0 -

sorry to be a pain:rotfl:
I should have mentioned....
Some BC generators (it seems most!) will automatically add the check digit.
Tesco include the check digit in the url - try leaving off the last number (most website will calculate it again).
As the first five numbers are zeros this is a shorter ean8 code
0000003257500
the BC generator (this time http://www.barcode-generator.org/) has calculated the check as 0 which is good as it matches what he expected.
msm showing unknown so I don't know what this is (except we do know its 400g strawberries lol because it came from Tescos website)#CHEEKY :cool:0 -
You know my posts about accurate time...
On the BBC News Channel, it seemed that the countdown clock was running too fast (as counting down to 12:59:60 BST rather than 01:00:00) but that they paused before starting to speak on the show.
Meanwhile, my own wall clock, which doesn't stop for leap seconds (I discovered that several years ago:() is now too fast, as it updates at some point later overnight (approximately 2am?). Or maybe it isn't? I've updated my computer clock - seems like it won't synchronise to windows time (maybe that's down?) but has synchronised to official US time (which is good enough for me:rotfl:) - however, it's now showing exactly the same time as my wall clock (so, maybe that updated earlier? How could it have done, as it wasn't the leap second until now:think:? And it didn't stop for a second just then. Maybe:
:eek:official US time via the web-updater is now incorrect by a second. I've synchronised my computer clock to it, but I don't trust that's it's accurate (I'm not convinced:rotfl::rotfl:).
Unless :idea:I think my wall clock may be going slightly out, as a quartz clock in between updates, not that it's bothering me, as I think the battery's going/not finding it easy to update - actually... I knocked the clock off the wall recently:o:o (I was trying to swat a pesky fly) - not a very good idea to do that - the clock does work, but has probably not been updating as much - only able to get a signal in the night-time now, as didn't set for several hours when I put it back...and prayed for the best) so has probably been slightly slow but is now right.0 -
I must go to sleep now, Savvy I have enjoyed reading about your wall clock incident and secret house move
Btw, Toblerones still showing 75p on Waitrose website, is this now the everyday low price as the special offer wording has gone  :rotfl:
I don't think Tesco, Sains or Morries match Waities prices so if you need more then it's back to Asda or Waitrose!
Good night :hello:#CHEEKY :cool:0 -
My clock (that is the wall clock) and the computer clock appear to be exactly the same. I've managed to set to time windows now, as confirmation and it's still the same (even though my wall clock - must have been slow - didn't pause for the second).
:eek:Next synchronisation: 08/07/2015:eek::eek: at 01.18.
08/07/2015?!? That's way too long - it will be out by quite some time by then! (I always have to update manually a bit sooner:rotfl:, every other day, whenever I just happen to press on the time and then quickly go to synchronise.)
So, apparently, time nist is right. These digital broadcasts (TV and radio), though, are quite useless. They are always 4 or 5 seconds out (behind time). When I listened more to analogue radio back in the day, the time on the pips was the right time - and you could set to it. But the TV channels, on digital, they are not actually completely live but a few seconds in delay. As we found out at New Year when I thought the Big Ben bell was running too late. I'm going to have to revert to analogue Radio 4 signal next time or else synchronise my own exact recording to begin. It appears to be the same online too - there the delay of TV channels on the BBC i-Player can be over a minute, so no use, and the radio channels run late. Commercial radio are all apparently slightly late - about twenty seconds delay from one station, when I was going to the news every hour between my own music listening (I could be a DJ:rotfl:) when the website of my other source was offline - and normally, on that station, 6 seconds delay or so for the IRN bulletin to start - these things do not matter to many people, but very significant to me:rotfl:! I like to go in cleanly to the news and then leave with a clean break.
These things go round in periods of interest throughout my life. I was listening to radio news like this during the early 1990s - had a lot of time away from much of it, now seem to be getting back into this cycle of it again:rotfl:.
Anyway, goodnight folks, think I'll listen to the news in delay now as missed it at the start of the hour:rotfl:.

(You'll get the last radio bulletin - or the hour before if it's not yet updated.)0
