Sorry to hear this. It isn't fair. It is such a big thing for youngsters. Is there a cancellation list you can get him put on. I don't know how these things work. Thinking about it, you have already thought of that, ignore me.......
...its a delicate situation...his instructor has just lost a close relation and the funeral is on the day of DS1's test...which was booked months ago.
Its just an unforeseen situation that we cant really sidestep.

we have 3 test centres locally so will need to check them daily for cancellations although this morning the earliest date available including cancellations is 21st August.

Also, don't know if it's been brought over here, but you can get £110ish worth of A$da, Tosco, Sainsbooby, Morries, Lewis of John gift cards etc. for about £40.

See here for more details: http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/zeek-vouchers-9-for-20-groupon-pls-do-offer-request-referrals-2228176

Apologies if it's already been mentioned. The trick is to refer yourself - so mods, I'm pretty sure this is ok as you're not requesting fellow MSErs for a referral.

This post sums up what you have to do (thanks to titchyyyyy - HUKD):
    1. Create 2 "new" gmail accounts.
    2. Login to your "MAIN" Groupon account - Click here to find your referral code.
    3. Log out of your main Groupon account - use the referral code to register twice, making sure you use the same referral code each time.
    4. Now you have 2 new Groupon accounts, buy a Zeek voucher on both of the new accounts which will grant your main account £12 credit (£6 each).
    5. Download/Install Zeek on two different devices at the same time (One can be a virtual machine if you don't have a second phone/tablet).
    6. Register with Zeek using the two new gmails you created, along with a unique telephone number on each account.
    7. Click "share" on the Zeek application and input the share code from device 1 into device 2 and visa versa, both accounts will now have £5 in balance.
    8. Input the two Zeek vouchers on both your accounts, they will both be updated to £45.
    9. Buy a £45~ voucher on device 1, this will give device 2 an extra £5 (£50 total), now buy a £50~ voucher on device 2, which will grant device 1 an extra £5 but will be pretty much useless tbh.

Fingers crossed you get an earlier cancellation for him. Being able to drive is such an important step for them isn't it. From about the age of 15yrs that is all my boys used to talk about, when they pass their tests and what cars they were going to get.

Rather than cancelling the test, can you get another car for the test ?

Driving instructors tend to have similar choices in cars.

Just to add more info. with regards to the above offer:

    - To get £110 worth of gift cards for £40, make sure you use the 20% off code on Groupon (widely advertised on their own site - only valid until midnight tonight) and use TCB/Quidco for an extra 6% cashback.

    - Refer other family members because you can use the offer once per smartphone/tablet. ;)

    - The supermarket gift cards will arrive by recorded signed for delivery. I was a little sceptical about this company at first, but can confirm I've received all my gift cards with the correct amounts on them. Beats a Mighty Deal offer any day. :rotfl:
