Sorry this happened to you nmjams.

Buying houses and cars are the two biggest purchases (for most of us) in our lives yet we're sometimes forced to deal with some of the dodgiest characters and practices of all.

We buy a toaster from ASDA and there are reams of protection by comparison lol (level of sale complexity aside).

I would write a formal complaint to the EA about their lies and then escalate it when they fob you off

    Complain about what exactly?

While I sympathise with the OP, this may have nothing to do with the EA who is only acting on the instructions of the vendor. Is there proof they are lies? And what difference would it make anyway. It is one day after offer accepted - around a third of all house purchases fail so, at least the OP has not had to incur any expenses like surveys, solicitors etc.

Ultimately, the vendor is the one that makes decisions, not the EA.
  • I agree with others, this is a horrible situation but focus on the positives, at least it happened now, and not a month down the line after solicitor searches and surveys had been done. Sounds like you had a lucky escape from some difficult venders

Did you hear back from them yesterday?
They got in touch last Thursday. The new guys got a mortgage and the vendor sold to them.

I had a letter from the EA friday, i think i must have upset them, the letter couldn't have been more to the point, they barely filled 2 lines!
