Car missold

Hi, have spoken to citizens advice and logged complaint with them but need to know who regulates car dealers? In the event of an unresolved complaint who would you then escalate that to?

    You dont.

You would have to go through the courts. You could get trading standards involved but they will investigate the dealer, not pursue any claim you might have.

    Whats the issue?

As above if they dont settle your complaint to your satisfaction you take them to court, if the costs justify it.

    Why was it mis-sold?
Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...

  • We need to know how it was mis sold.
  • Car was a rental car previously and not advised. Was advertised as 1 previous owner. Car then broke down within 24hrs. Took weeks to be fixed and then wasn't. Had to reject the car. Bought a replacement from them as they sold my trade in.

This car was mehanicaly not correct and was booked in for checks. They advised everything was fine. Booked the car in elsewhere for second opinion to be told brakes needed replaced and new battery even though original garage days before said they were fine. Replaced the brakes and battery but replaced the brakes with inferior make. Car making noise while driving so back in again For them to evetually replace with the brand pads etc.

Beleive both cars missold, first one for not disclosing was a rental car and second car for not being machanicly sound and then lying to me and saying it was fine. Took another garage to check and takes pics and send invoice confirming this before prob garage carried out the replacements and repairs.

If everything is resolved and you have a fully working car, what is there to complain about?
  • Being mis sold a car which I wouldn't have paid full asking price for had I known it was a rental?
Being given potentially dangerous info about my brakes being safe and legal when they weren't?
Beig told the battery was fine when I actually needed replaced?
This taking 3mths before I eventually have a safe car from date of first purchase?
And lots of smaller issues but just because it's now repaired - again, do you not think there's reason to have a grievance?

To be honest, no I don't.

Your post is difficult to read, but what I understand is you bought a car, weren't happy so they changed it. There were issues which they disputed, so you got evidence and then they fixed it.

Sounds like you've got a car that works and the garage did everything you asked them to?

As above it wasn't a case of not being happy it was a clear case of misselling and not only that the car didn't even last 24hours.

Car wasn't fixed up to 3 weeks later and on day due back engine wanting light came on before it was to be returned to me.

Second car was supplied not mechanically sound and then they lied and said everything was fine and you don't beleive I have cause for complaint?

    okay...
  • You never know, the place you took the second car to for a second opinion may not have been most honest and told you it needed new brakes and batteries when it didn't really need them.

Also, when you bought the first car, did you specifically ask the question as to whether it was a hire car or not? If not, they didn't missell the car, they told you it was one owne and it was albeit a hire company.
  • The second garage took pics as evidence and attached them to the invoice.

The garage has to declare that without me asking, citizens advice already confirmed this.
