With a budget like that just get a 4-5 year old 325i. Very reliable and comfortable.

Why? Please tell us all in a constructive manner, with an argued point on why the 325i is a bad suggestion for the OP with his budget?

The car is reliable, no turbos or DPF to go wrong.
It is still fairly efficient on fuel.
Its comfortable and a nice drive/cruiser with more than enough power to overtake on motorways or A/B roads

Pretty bizarre suggestion for someone clearly looking at basic cars. The suggestion of getting an older car is of course very valid, but in that case something more appropriate for the OP might be a Golf not a 2.5 litre BMW!

A 5 year old BMW 325i is actually a 3 litre so get your facts right. And before you go off in a hoof look up the cars MPG figures and road tax. It's surprisingly good. Can get around 50 mpg on a run.

50 on a run :rotfl: pull the other one. Next you'll be claiming to own one.

EPA fuel economy, city driving: 20 mpg
    C/D-observed fuel economy: 25 mpg

    And £205 VED.

Because, 'Neil', the OP has already bought a car about ten posts back... and doesn't need another one...

You have no clue what you're talking about. Here are the actual figures for a 325i

    Urban mpg
    28.8 mpg
    Extra Urban mpg
    49.6 mpg

    Average mpg
    39.2 mpg

So as I said, yes on a motorway steady run it can near enough do 50 mpg. More realistically probably 45mpg.

You're a completely narrow minded to have such ignorant view. Yes it's 3 litre but its as or more fuel efficient that your bog standard Vauxhall 1.6 litre petrol.
