Hi,
In October my wife will start on statutory maternity pay which works out around 7000 a year.
I'm a basic rate tax payer so will we be eligible to claim if she doesn't have enough savings to take her over the threshold?
Apologies if this question has already been answered. I read through but couldn't see it.
Thanks0 -
Tax years run from 6 April to the following 5 April.
In very rough terms your wife will earn 6 months' normal wages and 6 months' maternity pay in this tax year.
Will you qualify? I doubt it.0 -
I get MCA because my wife was born before 1935. She doesn't pay tax so applied to transfer the MA to me. Now HMRC say I cannot have both. Is this correct?0

Received mine too with a little rebate! Thought the whole process was fine. 5 mins online registration - 2 months wait then got it!0

Got the "Registered your Interest" e-mail July 8th saying 14 weeks we should hear by which would make mid October for us. So whats the average time people are actually waiting to get the "Apply" e-mail please?:EasterBunpsb0

also registered in February and was told in April that I would be 'one of the first' to be contacted. Later I told a couple of my friends about it and they were all contacted before me!
So late in July I rang up and after a very long delay was answered by a lady who said she would complete everything for me then and there, so I didn't have to complete an online application. Today my husband received his amended tax code so in all it has taken 6 months!

Hi my wife registered to transfer part of her allowance on April 29th, and she duly received the confirmation email from HMRC saying she would here within in 14 weeks. After this period was over, she had heard nothing. I rang HMRC on 4th August, and they say running behind but should hear soon. As of today still heard nothing. What should we do ?0

Contact your MP by email here:
http://www.parliament.uk/mps-lords-and-offices/mps/
MPs need to know what a shocking state HMRC is in these days, including the frequent one hour call centre wait times, and the more people that tell them the better the chance of sorting the mess out. Every complaint to an MP will automatically find its way to HMRC for an explanation, so it's more effective than just complaining to HMRC, who couldn't give a damn.0
