It's strange that people are having such different experiences, ranging from mildly irritating to virtually impossible.
Or even no problems at all.
When situations like this arise, there is often one of two basic situations :
1. users are on different parts of the computer system, and although these different parts should all be set up in the same way, and functioning in the same way, they are in fact not functioning the same. Users have no control over this (other than to create new, different accounts on different parts of the system).
2. The parameters (largely cookies, but system parameters too) that identify the individuality of the users to the system are not correct for everyone. This is often because the parameters are not being reset/updated/cleared correctly by the system. Users have some control over some of these parameters.
Whatever choice of palliatives that users have in these circumstances is limited, and depends on the nature of the problem.
The only real solution is for MSE to sort out the fundamental problem, and in my view 24 hours is a reasonable timescale, bearing in mind that this problem suddenly arose and therefore is likely to be down to software changes - which ought to be reversible.
Anything longer than 24 hours seems to me to be an indication of a lack of proper controls.
ETA: Interestingly (but sadly), I (personally) didn't have any problems using the system at all - until this morning!
Now I am getting some of the problems that others have referred to.
That seems to me to indicate one of two things.
Either the system is simply getting worse through lack of appropriate action;
or (horrors!) the system problems are getting worse because of actions taken at MSE Towers.0 -

Luckily, everyone else isn't in West Wales.
Hope that helps.0 -
As in = its not being in a remote location (which often has worse services in many respects)???
Okay - who is in a major British city?0 -
I don't have any problems with the time it takes to load. The only probs I get are the two timed out messages, one when I try to post, so I just back click and repost, and a little pop-up sometimes when I'm pressing a Thanks button. No other probs.
Yes, they are the two problems I have started to have (occasionally) as of this morning. Nothing else.
What really annoys me is that there is a whole host of information like this that ought to be useful to the MSE Techies in identifying the scope of the problem, but the sad fact seems to be that none of them seem to read the 'Site Feedback' board any more.
If they did, you'd think that one of them would have taken the opportunity (by now) of explaining what the problem is, and what they are doing about it.0 -

....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

The glitches are dreadful this morning. I've commented on MSE's twitter and facebook page asking them to update us here on Site Feedback, even if only to reassure us that they know it's still not working properly and that they're trying to sort it.

Bad glitches again.
New style sign in, whereas I remain with old skim links classic.
Just replied to a pm only to have the 'timed out' msg and no idea where pm is. because no further command is executed.
Will copy this before attempting to post.

Still no word on when this will be fixed?
I'm using the new version and keep getting all sorts of errors - connection failure, timed out, we couldn't complete this action... It's being seriously annoying at the moment!Back after a very long break!0 -

I'm in London - not having too much problem with it now.
Sometimes it posts straight away and some times I have to press the back button and then post.
If a post is particularly long I might copy before posting just to be on the safe side.
I don't find this difficult to deal with. Here dead we lie because we did not choose

But young men think it is,
And we were young.
