Lost some disk space recently, gone over your monthly data limit or internet performance degraded ? Then Microsoft could be to blame, if you are on a capped D/L allowance you should send MS the bill for going over.

Science isn't exact, it's only confidence within limits.
  • I keep saying, a lot has changed in terms of licensing, and continues to change in only 4 weeks. Any article quoted from any source not regularly 'updated' is out of date. The article above from howtogeek was Published on 08/20/15. Best of luck.

Try this and let me know how you get on.

Go to settings, go to system, go to Tablet Mode, turn off,

then next one down set "go to the Desktop" when you sign in,

then next one down set to "always ask me before switching"

Just to feed back on this (which related to Chrome crashing problems) - it has worked pretty well, and thanks for the advice. It's not been 100% successful (still crashes from time to time) but the number of crashes has reduced by at least 75%, which is a big improvement.

    Thanks again.

Well as you say a 75% improvement but I`ve uninstalled and now running Firefox.

The new Win10 new distribution method works a lot like torrents do and uses your machine and data allowance to distribute Win10 install round the world, just like the v8 did before it. I didn't switch mine of completely as suggested here, instead I changed the Microsoft call in the firewall to deny it the rights to do anything without asking me first.

Has anyone tried reinstalling a previous OS (Win 7 / 8 /8.1) from original media - after the month is up ?
Is the licence for the old OS still valid ?

Spoke too soon. Chrome's now as bad as ever for some reason - impossible to close tabs most of the time without it hanging indefinitely.

Thanks for trying, though. I see you've ditched Chrome altogether and I think I need to do the same. I use Firefox for most things and Chrome just for Gmail + the inevitable links.

If you use Firefox for most things why can't you also use it for Gmail?
