One Door House

OK, so I have been house hunting for over 3 years now. I went to view one this week and I was actually bowled over that it looked like what it did in the photos. There was no photoshopping or glamour photos, it was as it should have been.

It's a 3 bedroomed town house which was put for sale at £100K in Yorkshire. It's been on the market about 2 months and it has not yet sold. At that price, I thought it would have been snapped up in no time.

I quite liked the house, but my only issue was there was only one door at the front, and there was no door at the back. The whole street is just the same. So I guess it's a house in the format of a flat if you know what I mean.

After the viewing, he said he was willing to reduce the price and I should contact the agent with my offer.

Am I missing something as to why it hasn't sold and why he is willing to drop the price? It sounds a bit too good to be true. With it being my first time buying, I am probably missing all the warning signs.

Could someone please advise me.

Many thanks.

I don't know what my reservations are. A few months ago I was intent on buying a property not too far from this one and that was only 1.5 bedrooms and priced at £135K but she would not drop any more than £133K which I could not afford. This one just seems a bit too good to be true. I asked about the neighbours and he said they were elderly and not "rough".

It has a huge front garden but no back garden, not that I am that bothered. I don't like gardens or snails or slugs or worms. Hehehe.

I think you're a bit too keen. That house isn't worth 100k in a town like Dewsbury.

Lots of houses don't have back doors - this one is nothing like a flat, just built on a sloped or stepped site.

Why would there be a back door if there is no back garden? Can you get into the house from the underneath garage?

No, just one entrance so I was thinking !!!!!! if there was a fire and one could not use the front door? Leap out of the bedroom? :(

Try the kitchen window; it's on the ground floor.

Years ago a friend was renting a flat over a shop. He was always concerned about getting out if the only entrance (the front) was blocked.

He was a bit of a worrier (maybe rightly so), and he had a length of very strong rope attached to a hook like on a boat, so he could get out the bedroom window in case of fire.

We used to say the rope was for escaping when the LL came to collect the rent and he was skint. :rotfl:
