Has anyone had any experience or dealings with a UK based company called Profit Sourcery? For a variable monthly subscription they will supply leads together with the relevant sales statistics for products to sell on Amazon.
As far as I can gather the products are from retail outlets, I have to admit it sounds like an attractive way to get established as an Amazon seller. Incidentally, I have no connection or affiliation with the company.

It is like the list of auction websites and stock sources list you can buy on Ebay. A bit of research and you will save yourself a ton of money and find out the info yourself.0

I looked at something like this a while ago for console games. They "recommended" games with demonstrable ebay and amazon savings. By the time you added in your fees and P&P though for selling, there was rarely margin left, and by the time you got the item from the supplier the price had dropped on ebay and amazon anyway.
All nice in theory but hard to make it work, given how quickly prices on ebay / amazon fluctuate0 -

If you know a bit about Amazon you can work out how well some items sell without paying for it. Amazon have charts for pretty much everything. If you're thinking of selling Jeremy Clarkson books you can monitor each one available over a period and see the chart rating, which updates regularly. You can do the same with any product, if there isn't a chart position then it hasn't sold, ever.
You can also use search to see which items are appearing high up, on Amazon's equivalent of "best match". If you add in "out of stock" items then you can also see any sold out items that have sold well.
I may be misjudging this company but it sounded to me like a racket. As a business, if I were them I'd be concerned that Amazon could squash me at any time.
There's also the point that a lot of these people miss, that the most popular items are often not the best items to sell. If too many people are selling then the profits are not going to be there.
I wouldn't touch the most popular item in one of the categories I sell in, to compete I'd end up losing about 50p an item, where I can be earning £3-£4 with the items I sell..0 -
I'd also add that the top selling items are often sold by Amazon. If they aren't they often end up being, so it's tricky.
I don't think there are any shortcuts to finding what sells and being able to turn a profit on it. The best way is to put the effort in..0 -

I agree with this. Best off researching it yourself.I looked at something like this a while ago for console games. They "recommended" games with demonstrable ebay and amazon savings. Game prices can change hourly and vary greatly in price for each title, especially on Amazon. The condition of the game and whether it's complete (i.e. manual and case) make a big difference too. Then you have DS games and special editions which due to the size may cost more to post.
Getting console games, especially new, and selling them for a profit even without the price changing is very very difficult. Supermarkets make a loss on them all.
They're one of the hardest items to sell for a profit.
So while I agree prices can change and there will be little profit in some things not all items will be quite so bad as console games.0 -
Signed up for a trial today........
I now have 3 items on my dashboard will all of the relevant info to hand. So far, so good.
Followed the link to first item, can only purchase 3, limited stock. Second item is marked 'Last One', third item limited to 4 items per order.
All 3 items are sold by this retailer on Amazon, so they are direct competition, which for a non FBA seller I should think will be a tough one to crack.
From the outset I would find this a pain, purchasing 2 of item 1, 3 of item 2 etc, I want 10 at a time.
See what tomorrows offers bring......0 -
Yeah....I suppose the comments reflect pretty much my feelings 'If it sounds too good etc...' but I was wondering whether it would be a good way to learn the mechanics of selling on Amazon for someone like me who has only sold on Ebay..
However, I'd be interested to to hear how your free trial goes, FB, though so far it sounds a bit disappointing.0 -

In my opinion Amazon gives an ability for growth that no longer exists on Ebay..0 -
It would be easier for you to pick a couple of lines and sell them on Amazon. Setting up a basic account is free and so are listings. If you're not on a pro account the selling fees look a bit heavy (I think it's 80p plus 15%) but to get a feel of it, it's not too difficult.

Best way to go I think.
I suppose the reason I was first attracted to their scheme being they find the products and suppliers on your behalf but I realise there are no short cuts in reality!0 -
