It's also not a perfect science anyway. If you go back twelve months all the best selling lines on Amazon were loom bands and related items. Now I can pick up packets that were selling for £2 for a penny.
There's a fair amount of items like that although they were probably an extreme example, there's still plenty of people who lost thousands on them..0 -
I'm on a mailing list for some marketing guru who claims to be getting people to be earning thousands by the week on Amazon. I have to wonder why they spend so much time telling people about it when they could just be doing it themselves.
Who teach the gurus? There must be a place somewhere, populated by a tribe of supergurus, none of us mere mortals have heard of.
Seriously though, is that what all this is about?
I'm really amazed how much time I've wasted wading through outrageous claims from people that were teetering on the edge of bankruptcy and eviction from their one-room flat who are working 1000 hours a week washing dishes in a fish and chip shop who suddenly discover the formula for fabulous wealth creation, They now live in a 20 bedroom beach-side mansion in Honolulu and own 6 Ferraris and then....flog the formula for $37 on the Warrior Forums!0 -

With things like that many claim that it won't affect them if others know the "big secret" or that you need to fully understand it to do well and not everyone can so many fail which is better for you and them when they give their guide on the exact steps on how to succeed.
In other words, they either tried it themselves but couldn't be bothered so decided to do a guide or they've never done that (or certainly not as they claim) and did a bit of research online, copied some tips and made it into their own guide.
Either way their money is coming from having adverts on their site and selling the guides. Even if given away free somewhere they always charge to start with or still sell it elsewhere. It's highly unlikely they are as rich as they say, but I'm betting some are pretty well off from the guides and not even slightly from the thing they're claiming to do.0 -
I picked up a book in the States a while ago that was some guy's guide to getting rich quick. The scheme was to write a guide to get rich quick by writing a guide to get rich quick. If ten people followed his advice and that went on there must be millions of them by now:o.0

Bit of an update on the trial....
Items are from many different retailers, mostly they are offer prices so will not stand the test of time.
Some will let me purchase 10 or 15 say of an item, one store will only let me purchase one item.
Delivery charges vary, some are free, some are a fiver for one item, and one is a fiver for 15 items.
It's not as bad as I thought it might be, there is massive variation on product range, so for a more specialised seller it is a waste of time. Perhaps an ok way to get started with limited funds, I'd say most business sellers would want a more reliable source of stock once established.0 -

Interesting.
Like I said earlier I was interested in this scheme as I thought it could give a total novice like me some basic lessons in selling on Amazon. The thing that concerns me most is getting over the initial phase of selling with no product reviews or feedback - but then everyone has to face this.:(0 -

Amazon sponsored products works well in getting items found and is quite cost effective. It's a pay per click advertising within Amazon. Ebay have just introduced (or are about to) their own version..0 -

Rarely do I receive feedback on Amazon, maybe 40% of the time on ebay.
Perhaps look for products with a good margin on ebay, if your Amazon venture does not work out you would know you could dispose of your stock on ebay without too much risk.0 -
So, having no reviews is no big deal? Thank goodness for that!
Also glad to hear that Amazon sponsored products is effective. Things look a lot clearer now. Thanks.0 -
