People keep bashing my wing mirrors - tips please!

Where I used to live peoples mirrors got hit because they parked half on the kerb. It encouraged people to try to squeeze through a gap that wasn't quite big enough. After the first time I parked wholly on the road so there wasn't room for two cars to pass. That solved the problem. Is it possible to park so only one car can pass at once?0

I found that almost as soon as I had a pair of wing mirrors, matched & ready to fit from the scrapper, that my car suddenly got rear-ended...
Mirrors are a right chore, but strategic & ruthless use of dashcam tech etc plus immediate reporting to police etc will wean the worst offenders gradually.
To 'force' traffic to follow a certain line, you'll need another car to park in relation to - which may work out expensive.0 -

Maybe one of the above, removed when driving. Fixed so it bends and bounces back if hit.0 -

Attach a wire brush to the end, they'll only hit it once

My stepdaughter was at Uni in Cardiff and rode a bike everywhere, and she was scared with how close the cars drove to her. She bought and fitted one of these and found that cars actually drove closer, in some cases hitting the lollipop. She reckoned some were doing it for fun, like live target practice. I suggested aralditing a 6" nail to the end to provide some extra sport, but no.Norman_Castle wrote: »http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bicycle-bike-safety-arm-Lollipop-flag-red-reflector-handlebar-cycle-road-spacer-/141282658221?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item20e51a47ad

I think it's that principle that people will subconsciously drive toward what they're looking at.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Target fixation? Yes, probably.Strider590 wrote: »I think it's that principle that people will subconsciously drive toward what they're looking at.If someone is nice to you but rude to the waiter, they are not a nice person.0 -
Get an abandoned traffic cone and place it by your car when you park up.The man without a signature.0

I have checked with the Council and it is OK to park on the pavement so long as there is sufficient room for people to get past, which there is so I've started parked slightly up the curb.

Really? Just out of curiosity how much room do you and your council consider to be enough?
Enough for a person? Or a wheelchair? Or a double buggy?0 -

We don't all live in Enfield you know, where there's a row of garridges round every corner
Council garages used to be a luxury around here, long waiting list to rent them etc. Now half of them have either been pulled down or abandoned in a state of disrepair waiting to be pulled down.
Times have changed and people are not bothered about garaging their car. Even people who have a garage at home only seem to use them to store junk.0
