People keep bashing my wing mirrors - tips please!

Hello!
So far this year my wing mirror has been smashed 4 times, knocked countless times and my car bashed. This is all despite the fact I fold my mirrors in. Not once has anyone stopped to leave their details. It's costing me a fortune, is frustrating and causes headaches no one really needs!
The car is parked on the road outside the house - there is nowhere else to park it. I have checked with the Council and it is OK to park on the pavement so long as there is sufficient room for people to get past, which there is so I've started parked slightly up the curb.
I've also asked the Council to look at changing the road markings which they have agreed to consider.
In the meantime can anyone give me any tips as to how to protect my car? Does anyone know of a light I can attach, a wing mirror protector or have any other ideas?
As you can imagine I'd be really grateful for any suggestions.
Thanks so much peops
M

Not really much you can do. You could buy some retro-reflective stickers off eBay which will catch people's lights.
Perhaps a set of bumper battenbergs would help draw attention to the car?
Otherwise, invest in CCTV or a dash-cam to catch out the offenders?
Or a narrower car?0 -
Great thanks, will check out the battenbergs0

rent a lock up garage?
Not everyone has that luxury. I tried to rent a garage for ten years here in the North East, and there was none to be had unless I wanted a full-on workshop as commercial premises.
We don't all live in Enfield you know, where there's a row of garridges round every corner0 -
correct , check my postings , I do NOT live in Enfield , however I do own 2 of there lovely motorcycles , and enjoy riding them "up north"0

Well, if your mirrors are being clipped SO frequently, despite them being tucked in, I would guess there is definitely NOT as much room as you suggest for other traffic to squeeze past your car! People don't TRY to clip your mirrors because presumably damage is also done to their own vehicle at the same time.
Surely the solution is to find a wider road to park on?0 -
Thanks for that Nonnatus. Helpful! I can assure you that there is plenty of room, it is a fairly wide road. Two cars can easily pass each other even with cars parked in the bays and not on the pavement, in fact as it's a busy road and a bus route a small bus can pass by with a car going the other way even with cars parked up. If the answer was that simple I wouldn't post here.0

Fill your wing mirrors with concrete to stop them flicking in when they get hit. That should smash the offending car's mirrors clean off and they will think twice about doing it again!
Fit a dash camera in the back, pointing forward, you may be able to record the offending vehicles when they impact your car."Dream World" by The B Sharps....describes a lot of the posts in the Loans and Mortgage sections !!!0 -
Are all the other cars in the street suffering the same problem? Could there be someone doing this to your vehicle only?0

Apologies for the assumption, but if you think I'm going to trawl through all of your posts to find out before making it, then you're mistaken!
That's what the 'location' box in the user profile is for.0
