Park a little further out from the kerb, preferably opposite another car.
If the road is obviously too narrow for two cars to pass with a parked car there, people will stop and give way to each other.
If you widen the gap, more people try to pass each other, and as around 5% of them have no idea how wide their car is, they knock your mirrors off.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

NO, I don't think it's on purpose. It may be because our car tends to the last on the line and people pull over too early, but we've tried to park between other cars and it still happens. It does happen to other cars too. I was hopeful that there was some invention I didn't know about ...... maybe I need to invent one and take it onto Dragon's Den!0

Buy 2 big orange road cones. Screw a piece of 18mm ply on the bottom so 300mm sticks out at one side and place the cones just in front of the off side wheels then drive over the ply. The cones will then be inbetween your car and the road and holefully will stop other road users from whacking your car.

There are two CCTV solutions:
-Home CCTV with a recording device, generally that all goes through your broadband router and can be wireless. A single camera system can be sought for less than £100, and if you have an always-on computer there is free software available that can do the recording storage, making it even cheaper.
-In car cameras and dashcams. Would have to be pointing in the right direction, some are triggered by motion (recorded or felt). Probably more expensive and less reliable.
If you do catch someone, please report them to the police for failing to stop. People won't stop doing this until some books start getting thrown.0 -
Glue a small piece of velcro to the wing mirror and a small piece to a bit of polystyrene covered in reflective tape and stick it on when you park up to give other drivers a few more visible centimetres to worry about. When you need to use the car just pull off the polystyrene block and drive off.. Patent pending!0

its because your car isn't going to do much damage to the undrivers who keep hitting it.
I know its no help but if you sold your car and bought a pick up transit, with a solid steel scraped and scored steel body wider thand the cab i can absolutely guarantee they'd mange to miss it.
OK back to reality, sell the nice car, go and buy an old banger for one weeks wages, it'll get hit but A you won't worry about it B you can get umpteen mirrors in the scrap yard.
Other people won't let you have anything nice now, they'll either nick or damage it if they can't.0 -
Well, if your mirrors are being clipped SO frequently, despite them being tucked in, I would guess there is definitely NOT as much room as you suggest for other traffic to squeeze past your car! People don't TRY to clip your mirrors because presumably damage is also done to their own vehicle at the same time.
Surely the solution is to find a wider road to park on?
No, but has anyone considered there may be someone in the street holding a grudge against OP, who keep walking past and smashing their wing mirror?
There was something like this a few years ago, an old boy didn't like the cars parking down his street, so he went out with a hammer and started smashing driver side wing mirrors.
OP how narrow is this street? is it possible that by parking on the kerb your actually encouraging people to try taking the gap two abreast?
Sometimes your actions can actually create more of a problem.
It's a bit like approaching a parked car on the right, if the gap is a bit too tight for two cars, i'll drive right down the centre to make sure nobody tries.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”
