Thanks flybaby. A general concern, as I can see the family traits in my own issues.
Not that they all have mh issues. Just that some personality traits seem to have gone awry in the parts of the family where neglect and denial are issues.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -
One of the guys in the programme who has autism so reminds me of someone I used to work with. Same noises and mannerisms and a complete water baby. That's when I miss my last job.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -

Congratulations Whitewing!
(But you're a naughty Whitewing!
I've been monitoring your posts for a week! A week ago you had around 9960 posts, and progress was very slow! You only made a couple of posts or so a day!
Yesterday evening you still had over 20 or so to go; I was tired so went to sleep at about 9.30, thinking that with your rate of posts I was safe!
 Then what do you go and do? :rotfl: )

By the way WaS, we've gone over 5000 posts.
If you open a new thread, why not just keep the name, but add Part 2?
Lots of threads do that when they have to start a new one!(I just lurve spiders!)

Morning all
Went round to MIL's last night to tell her about us wanting to take her to Vegas for her 80th and the reaction was pretty much what I expected, shocked, unsure and "I can't tell you now, I'll have to have a think about it"
I know she's near on 80 and walking is harder for her now and it's a long way to fly etc, but I can totally see where D gets his overthinking and creating problems where really, it's nothing that can't be overcome. When we told her, she said "oh I say a lot of things, don't take me seriously!"
First off, "you can't afford to take me as well, spend your money on other things", we can afford it, or we wouldn't have offered, the money's fine, all taken care of. Then, "go away just you two, have some time to yourselves", I replied, "but I see that ugly mug everyday, we'd enjoy your company too!"
Then she was worried about the heat (end of Oct/beginning of Nov won't be that hot) and walking, again we told her about the monorail, cabs etc....she was worried about us spending our money again.
But the thing she was most worried about was our cat!! She always looks after him when we go away. She knows what he is like....bad tempered old man! I said my Mam would come up and look after him and she was like "She can't be coming up every day, plus, he needs to be let out and he needs someone to sit with him and keep him company!" !!!!!!?! I felt like saying, as much as I love the little monster, he's a cat, how'd do you think he manages when we're both out? Then it was "he CANNOT go in a cattery, I wouldn't be able to enjoy myself knowing he was in a cattery". By this point I was like ok, we'll leave you to think about it and we went.
I know it was a big surprise to throw on her, but I'm thinking deep down she probably doesn't want to go as much as she made out she did, or she thinks she's too old to be flying all that way. Totally understandable for anyone of that age.
Anyhow, we've left it with her, if she wants to come, lovely, if she doesn't then we'll just go on our own.0 -
Groan - need to go to the doctor today. They won't give me painkillers without seeing me so naturally I've built it up in my mind that they wont give me any because they think I'm faking and drug seeking. It'seems nonsense. I've had 2 refills of tramadol in 2 years because I take them only when it is absolutely, positivitely ripmyfaceofftostopthe pain, necessary but I still worry they don't believe me!
Georgie - your mil sounds a lot like my mum. My dad always wanted to travel places and live abroad and my mum always had a reason why they couldn't, and now it's too late as his health isn't good enough. She wanted to go places too, or said she did, but whenever we suggested it, she always had an excuse - 'oh the kids need me, what about the dogs...' and so on until you got that while she liked the idea of it, the practice was too much for her to cope with. I've got my dad's love of travel and my mum's need to be in my comfort zone at all times, but I just ignore the latter and book stuff - then I have to go, no matter how scary!Eu não sou uma tartaruga.
