I vote for tomorrow!
Well wedding ordeal over! I took your advice Pyxis and acted like Meryl Streep (or insert favourite oscar winner here!), I wasn't bothered about meeting anyone new, just the family that I hadn't seen for ages and the BIL's girlfriend that I don't like. I know this is gonna sound bad, but I think she's probably got the message that I don't like her, as she didn't really talk to me either (yay!), either that or she thinks I'm really quiet....but I doubt it's the second one, because I'm not really, and I was talking and laughing with everyone else.
Infact, I think she must have got the message, because she kept on asking for photos of the brothers together, at various times throughout the day, and then one with "the brothers and Mammy", then the MIL said did she not want one with the wives on too and she was like "suppose" The nieces seem to love her, I don't know what it is, I just can't get away with her, neither can D or the MIL to a certain extent.
Anyhow, it was a lovely day weather wise, and the bride looked stunning. There was a LOT of sitting around though, and it mean ALOT. 2 hours sitting outside whilst photos were done and then a lot of sitting around after the meal and before the evening entertainment started. I don't know if this is normal as I haven't been to too many weddings, and the ones I have been to were a lot smaller (all in day and evening there were about 200 people!), and numerous times during the day we were saying how glad we were to have had a small wedding.
By the time the evening disco started, MIL had had enough and so had we (I'm surprised D agreed to stay that long tbh) and so that was a good excuse to leave.
Feeling quiet tired, I was up peeing like a racehorse about 3.30am, that'll be all that Bulmers cider! :rotfl:
Hugs to all! X x

I vote Thursday. Not a clue.
Georgie - glad the wedding wasn't as bad as you thought. That dress is lovely. The sitting around is normal, especially if the wedding is all in one place as they turn the room round after the ceremony and then again after dinner for the dancing. At my wedding it wasn't so had as there was a nice private bar area with seating but I went to one wedding where the bar was too small and there was nowhere to sit so we were pretty much turfed out to stand in a corridor for hours. Not looking forward to the one I have to go to as DH's brother is an idiot and his girlfriend gives me the fear. We could have shared a taxi with all the inlaws so DH could drink but he said he'd pay double the cost of the taxi not to be in one with his brother so we're driving there. It's a byob event too which is odd. Going to be a lot of people in the church with six packs and cool bags!
Melly - you need to listen to the consultat and try to take it easy. I know it's difficult and you're the kind of person who takes it upon herself to sort all the problems but for your health you need to build in some relaxation time. Do you meditate? Sometimes just sitting cross legged for 5 minutes focusing only on your breathing can be so relaxing, especially if your OH is being annoying.
Flybaby - I like German as a language. It seems very efficient. For example ambulance is krankenwagen which is just awesome. I am trying to learn Portuguese (unfortunately it's Brazilian Portuguese which means I have heehaw chance of making myself understood in Portugal) and so far I've learned useful phrases like 'I am not a turtle', 'the spoon is for the kings', and 'my uncle has a green horse', so I'm all set I think.
Yesterday I went for lunch with my parents which was nice but there was a moment where I brought her a blouse I had that I didn't want and she made a great deal out of pointing out it was far too big for her (she used to be that size) so I didn't know she wasn't anymore. I told her just to dump it in the charity pile. Then she made a bigger deal of it than she needed to about how she'd try it but it'd be too big and she'd give it to my brother's wife and I just ended up being embarrassed that I'd brought the damned thing at all. Aside from that it was nice to see them.Eu não sou uma tartaruga. Eu sou um codigopombo.0 -

drachenfutter is my favourite German word at the moment:
http://www.dw.com/en/drachenfutter/a-15912189:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -
