Thanks re the dress code :) I felt comfortable in it and quite glamorous as it poofed out a little bit due to the netting. I abandoned the other one due to a bra issue, but I'm glad I did as I much prefer the debenhams one.

Your DH sounds like mine in regards to his brothers! Don't get me wrong, they get on relatively ok, but it's just that awkward forced conversation "you alright lad? How's work?", "Fine yeah" "....silence. In a way DH was kinda brought up as an only child as he was still was a child when the eldest was an adult. DH spent most of the time fiddling on his mobile watching football! Luckily for him, I can start a conversation and did most of the talking to fill in any silences.

Glad you enjoyed the meal with your parents, but boo to your Mum making you feel bad :(

Eta: We had to sit outside (luckily it was fair and reasonably warm) for 2 hours whilst the photos were taken!! D caught the sun, and I just found the waiting around makes it a long day, especially for the elderly folk that were there.

It's an app that teaches in vocabulary rather than words so you learn to speak the language rather than tourist phrases. In theory anyway. In practice I can't imagine a scenario where I would ever utter those sentences - my uncle doesn't even have a horse!

Heh my mum just phoned and told me the top was too tight.

My favourite German word, just cause it sounds funny is Achselhöhle (armpit) :rotfl: When we were art students we went to London, and in our hotel were some Germans, I said something, and one of them said that sounds like the German for armpit and found it funny....I can only imagine I must have called someone an a*sehole

Thanks Pyxis :) Well, I trawled the whole of our town looking for a white jacket to match the other dress (coral and white striped) and I eventually found one, they were all size 8-10 and I needed at least a 14. Luckily after the bra issue the debenhams dress had white in too, so it matched well. I wore nude shoes and with a last minute bag swap I went for a black clutch bag. Didn't wear a fascinator but just wore gold jewelery.

We didn't actually think to take one (my Mam was disappointed, think she was wanting to see me in a dress again!), and the BIL girlfriend was that set on just getting photos of "the brothers". No one suggested taking one and we never thought....then again, we hate getting our photo taken! Thinking back though, I wish we'd thought to, but we were just that fed up of hanging around.

We weren't asked to be on the official photos either, but the other brother and his wife weren't either. Weren't fussed as like I say, we hate getting our photo taken, but I thought it was strange all the same. At one point we thought they weren't even going to ask for the MIL, but at the last minute they did. It all seemed focused on photos with the 33 stag lads and the 20 odd hens.

Oh go on then, I'll go for Saturday.

Rushes into fort, replenishes ice cream selection, and rushes back to weekend away playing massive symphonic work. (Can you guess which? Clue: they don't come any bigger!)
