Pyxis, some cinemas, have autism friendly screenings where the lights are not turned off and the sound is turned down. Might be worth checking if you can get one of those for the film you want to see.

Eta: it might just be children's films which would be a pity.

Ooh! I did't know that! Yes, that would be a lot better! I must enquire!
    Thanks! :)

Steady on, people, or we'll be inspiring WaS to try out the cinema next!

Pleased to report that there will be slightly more room in the duvet fort as I am under the 90kg (now I have sorted the scales). If I stand on the scales completely naked, after going to the loo, I may weigh less than DH in full outdoor clothing, lol. Can't see him being persuaded to try that as he would consider it a ridiculous comparison.

jaffa cakes being balanced on my thumb and flicked into the duvet fort with grace and speed.

Brilliant weight loss ww. I lost another whole pound last week (why is this process so d amned slow?). If I keep on like this, I'll have lost another stone before my holiday but still be 3.5 stone away from my 'fighting' weight. I was hoping to be a bit closer by then.

ETA: I have been lazy on the walking to work thing lately so maybe if I start doing that again it will help. If only it would stop being so windy!

    Brilliant! Both of you!

:rotfl: You know the downside to losing weight, don't you?:rotfl:

You have to go and buy new jeans, not once, not twice, but at least three times over the weight loss period! :D

What I did was pick a style I liked, then I bought the same style in a smaller size each time! That's a true marker of reducing clothes size, as every shop has different sizing! And even different styles in the same shop are sized differently!
It seems extravagant, but the boost to morale when you can actually zip up that one size smaller is worth it!

I've got another size to go. And finally to lose enough so that that size is a little bit loose, as opposed to forcing that zip up come what may!

I'm in that annoying stage where my original jeans are too big and look baggy but the size smaller don't fit yet. Because I'm tall and quite broadly built anyway, a loss of a stone and a half doesn't show that much, especially when my jeans were tight to begin with. Enough for DH to notice, not enough for anyone else to just yet.

    Le sigh

    Well done Pyxis.

  • I'm currently awaiting my referral for pysch, and am struggling with depression, anxiety and intrusive thoughts/voices.

I'm posting on here as it seemed like the appropriate place for a vent/release - please delete if not.

My home situation is that I am living with my emotionally unstable, highly dependent mother which is less than ideal as her abusive nature is a large factor in my own MH issues, but financially I cannot afford any other option at the moment. I know she clearly has deep MH issues of her own but she won't acknowledge them.

She has written in her will that I will receive her house when she dies, which is fair enough - it's her decision. Unfortunately, she has decided she "hates it around here" and that "everyone in town is out to get her" (I don't know why/where this is coming from) and wants to move.

My problem is that all my mental health team, gp, etc is here, and I really do like this area, and have put a lot of work into this house and garden. But as she is the homeowner, I don't feel I have a choice. I have told her today that while I realise that it's entirely her decision, and I would prefer to stay, which was met with histrionics and the flouncing out statement that "the best thing would be is for me to pop my clogs then".

This has made me completely anxious, guilty, and terrified of speaking, and feeling very ungrateful.

Again sorry if this isn't the right place to post, but needed to get it all out as I have no one else to splurge to.

This is similar in several ways to WaS's former situation, so I'm sure she'll have lots of words of wisdom when she's back from playing with monkeys! (I think she said that was today?)
I was wondering, do you work? If so, could you talk to her about buying the house from her?
Even if it's not really a possibility, just talking about it might make her realise how unhappy you'd be about moving.
Plus, the option of moving without you, might jolt her into realising that she could be on her own in a strange place, and might end that train of thought.
Does she own the house outright, or is it mortgaged? If the latter, and if you contribute to that mortgage unofficial ly, then she may not be able to afford to move without your financial help.

Sorry if some of these questions are personal, but you don't have to answer them; treat them as rhetorical questions so that you can see a different line of thinking, maybe.

And welcome to the thread! :A

Hello Knitta and welcome to the thread.

I think WaS' advice will be really helpful to you as she's very insightful and posts about her experiences in such a way that you come away with a better understanding of MH conditions.

You say you can't afford to live away from your mother. Have you applied for LA housing in your area? Or looked into houseshares? There's a benefits calculator somewhere that will let you know what help you would qualify for.

You're a grown-up and you do not have to live with anyone that you do not want to.

Welcome to the thread Knitta, please feel free to share how you are feeling with us there is usually someone around within an hour or two and this is a friendly, helpful and knowledgeable place to seek advice :)

Pyxis's and codes suggestions are good ones. I can't add any further words of wisdom.

Thanks guys thought you might like the photos.

Code, I always find people notice weight loss around the 2 stone marker. You would find if you had some time free and felt up to having a look around the shops that you would fit in the next size down in one of the different styles to your norm.

Whitewing you are doing really well, I have enjoyed reading about your martial arts achievements and positive attitude towards weightloss, I did giggle when your competitive side has come out with your OH. I have been doing the same with one of my travel buddies (she doesnt know this!) I'm about 6kg off her original weight and 12kg off her current weight (I'm 84kg), I intend to catch up over the next couple of months helped a lot by us both doing a 900km walk :)

The duvet fort looks really pretty with the sparkly lights :)
