the planned extension for the marina for the ferry that is to run next year, and the old bus station is going to be built on.I was born and dragged up in 'Combe and wouldn't live there! I escaped 16 years ago! If the ferry ever gets sailing I'll eat my hat. It's been on the cards for as long as I can remember - as has a 'marina' idea.
Where is the building work taking place? New one on me.

Well we like it in Ilfracombe!!! Moved here from South Yorkshire 3 years ago and would not go back for anything!! Horses for courses I guess.
Plus, any development here is a good thing and will certainly make the town a more desirable (and probably more expensive unfortunately) place to buy property.0 -
Move to the North East and enjoy a stunning coast, North Yorkshire Moors, cheap beer and the best fish and chips in the country at Liverton Mines Fisheries.
How much would you like to spend? This one is on Rightmove at £165K or this one at £115K or a bungalow in Staithes for £165K.

My husband and I have been looking on rightmove at that area just a moment ago and there is LOADS we can afford and looks suitable, and it's near places he loves.
The bungalowin your link is a bit small but the house is lovely!
Agree about scenery and coast and it's easy to get to the Midlands too to see our son.
The North-East it shall be. Thanks!!(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -
Building on the bus station will be a big improvement (although I hope it doesn't cut your early morning bus services as public transport is bad enough anyway). I also noticed at the weekend that they are improving the Cliffe Hydro site which, again, is a long time in coming - just hope it's a good looking build with parking made available being in such a prime position with such a potential for traffic chaos. A real pity it couldn't have been bought by the council and left open - it would afford a wonderful vista. I appreciate things like that don't happen anymore.
To my mind, in terms of improvement, it's the High Street that needs sorting, some of the big hotels need smartening up, and the Landmark needs a jolly good clean (or get the people who I thought sold them self cleaning bricks to clean it!). The High Street suffers still from the most selfish parking/stopping (it did in the 80's and 90's too so I can't see it ever changing) and the dilapidated, closed to trade properties are in dire need of renovation.
I've spoken to some of my remaining locals re: ferry and they say it will start with foot passengers and only become more if it is a used service. I can't see it running year round as who wants to be a foot passenger to Swansea in winter? The crossing to Lundy in summer can be bad enough! I don't think it will work, so I won't bother refrigerating my hat just yet.0
