Just paid £46.38 off the Halifax card.
Wanted to pay ore but we have our house insurance renewal due so put my entire salary in our savings account for now. I want to see how well we do living off DH's wages alone. I am very aware this will be my last big pay for a while xxWorking to a better Life for our family

Been MIA
I gave birth to my little boy on the 1 August. Never knew it was going to be this much hard work. He is absolutely gorgeous and I'm smitten. I have been very emotional as well though.
Starting to get into some sort of routine now DH is back to work. We have been in alittle bubble the past few weeks - budgeting has been going out of the window. Now it's time to get us back on track.
Going to catch up with some diaries xxxWorking to a better Life for our family

Ok so I'm back!
After having the baby I suffered from terrible baby blues. I really struggled with the no sleep so was constantly moaning and snapping. The littlest thing seemed a big deal. Don't know how I would of coped without my mum.
So now my head is back on so to speak I have realised that as my maternity pay is getting lower, and will soon be at zero, we need to focus!
we are starting to struggle with managing our salary. For the last few months we have ended up overdrawn. So I'm now realising that any dream of me not going back to work is non-existent.
I have been reading the diaries on this board for a number of years and I know that for many the debt starts from maternity leave. So I really need to do all I can to limit the impact.
Our total debt is now around the £5k mark where we got some furniture and building work (this was much needed but still).
Right off to bed now it's took me a week the courage to write this.

Evening Laura,
Lovely to hear from you. Sorry to hear you had the baby blues but glad you're feeling more yourself now. Its so hard becoming a mum for the first time, huge changes to get used to!!
Well done on writing this post, things can only get betterxx

Cannot sleep - my ds has a terrible cough so just got my eye on him. Can't settle when I hear him coughing every twenty minutes. Poor little mite I
So we have been paid and I separated dh's money from mine. We are currently living off dh's wages and mine has been used for debt.
I have cleared the overdraft. I have also made £286 worth of payments off the credit cards. I'm pleased with that so not bad for a first month.
This leaves our total debt balance at £6170.39.
So that's more than double what it was when I joined this forum
We have had a front extension put on and all new furniture so it is what it is.
All the Money has been split into envelopes for the month so now we have the hard part of getting through the month xxxWorking to a better Life for our family

Hope DS is feeling better soon and you manage to get some sleep.
You're doing well with your finances even though they've gone up so keep at it and you'll soon bring them down again.
Good luck
