...The stock market dropped a few weeks/months back then came straight back up. Thats what stock markets do, go up and down.
House prices wont grow as fast/by as much as they have done in the last decade but they aren't about to start dropping in price due to demand still being high. Obviously some areas will be the exception, just like London house prices will grow even in bad times else where in the country.
I think you are the one dreaming if you think a few percent drop in the stock market is about to change everything!0 -

HP will not be effected directly by a drop in stock markets. However, the drop in the stock-markets is the symptom of another problem that will have some effect. This "other problem" is the global credit crunch you may have heard about.
Just yesterday, ECB put 95bn Euros into the market to retain liquidity. The reason for this, is that the interbank rates (LIBOR) are climbing due to higher perceived risk. In effect this is like a sizable increase in BofE IR, without any official declaration from BofE.In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:0 -

You don't say!!
The markets have dipped dramatically for 2 days in a row. That is not something that 'happens every few weeks'. The fact that it is headline news accross the world right now should tell you that.
It's clear evidence that what happens in one country does not happen in isolation. The house market crash in America will/is spreading worldwide.0 -

You'll be supprised ho oftern that it actuall happens. I susspect that it is headline news as its the summer season and not a lot else going on.
Will you be back on here next week say the the housing market is going to sky rocket if shares bounce back next week?0 -
To dismiss this as nothing would be dangerous.
Yes there is all the "heard it all before" stories but this does seem a significant event. It is headline article on the BBC news website and if the credit fears prove correct then we will be in recession extremely quickly and house prices will tumble.0 -
This is a blip in what has been steady couple of years. The economy as a whole is much stronger than previous "crashes".
Sit back and enjoy0 -

Disagree.
The economy as a whole is more indebted than previous "crashes".Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0
