Keeping bras in shape

Options
Hi guys...not sure if this is the right place to put this question. Please feel free to move it necessary.

My question is how can I keep my padded bras in shape. After several washes the padding just goes all out of shape and they make my boobs look mishapen. I can't keep affording to buy new bras but I'm fed up of looking wonky!

Any cheap ideas gratefully welcomed. Thanking you all in advance

Easy :) You should always handwash bras. Machine washign is far too harsh on the materials and if they are underwired it'll make the wires poke through quickly too :)

hahaha yes! at a 32GG I have to pick good bras (and you can't pick any up in Asda or tesco or any semi cheap stores!) even the new range at Asda only goes to a G cup ARGH! But if I don't wear a bra I would in a few years probably be trying to avoid stepping on them! :rotfl:
Seriously though - Bravissimo will guarantee your bra for 6 months if you follow the care instructions which specifically state handwash! Been handwashing mine for a while and they are all fine :)

At the risk of starting what might be an emotional debate here - I find myself having to ask "Why a padded bra?" (If it's not for medical reasons.)

First things first - lets make it very clear that I'm a BLOKE :)

My user name stems from my squeaky chair and not from my squeaky voice, and the fact that I know a lot about cooking and cleaning and other OS things is because I live alone and learned to cook etc. out of sheer self defence :)

    So...

If you are padding up because you feel that you are on the small side (rather than for reasons of previous surgery for example; and if I'm wrong in your case I apologise - but other women do do this)... I have to tell you that we're not all members of the BBFB.

    (That's Big Bosom Fanciers Brigade)

So if you are using padded bra's to meet some image expectation on behalf of the other sex, I promise you that there are plenty of guys out there who'll be more than happy with you "au naturel", so to speak.

    Honest :)

And we're MADE that way too. Really.

    Story time....

When I first went to school, at the tender age of five, I came home one day and said to my mum...

    "I don't like my teacher"

    "Why not?" she asked.

    "Because she's got big muscles."

"Er... where has she got big muscles?????"

    "On her chest"

That's the only time I ever saw my mum rolling on the floor laughing with tears streaming from her eyes :)

So... IF padded bras are an "image"* thing - then yes, you'll be seen as more attractive by the BBFB - but there are honestly plenty of guys out there who prefer erm... the neater package :)

    * I know there can be a number of medical based reasons for needing padded bras, honest; but if it is a matter of image - you're responding to what you think other people want, and in the long run you might feel more comfortable being "real" and more true to yourself.

I'm SO not sure I'm going to hit "Send" on this...

    ROFL Squeaky!

Okay, I'll try to answer from a previously padded bra wearer! Look away if you're easily embarrassed.

I was a neat and very perky 36C until the kids came along. I sometimes wore a bra, sometimes didn't. I wore them for work and nights out and chose padded because I don't like my nipples being on show and they look neater under t-shirts.

As a now 36G I don't have the luxury of choice but would still choose a lightly padded one to hide my nipples!

Another thumbs up for Bravissimo. I was wandering around terribly uncomfortable until I found them a couple of weeks ago.

    Yes, handwashing for definite.

Can anyone recommend a good handwash powder/liquid that will deal with potential stains? (like milk or sweat for example - sorry!)

Been handwashing bras for years and they last for ages and ages.... keep their shape and do not fade... I always use Tesco liqued wash , soak in the sink for half an hour and then gently wash rinse and condition.... hanging them on the line takes care of any stains , not that I usually drop food down me bra.....:rotfl:

  • At the risk of horribly embarrassing myself, I can't wear a padded bra. Mine, um, arent the same size.... and a padded bra shows this up the most. So I wear lace stretchy ones, until they fall apart. Not big on top, (38b) so bravissimo cant' help me. I wore a padded bra + chicken fillets when I got married..... bra from Rigby + peller. Only padded bra I ever found that fits.
  • is the tesco liquid wash a washing liquid or washing up liquid (sorry for sounding dumb!) tanith
