If you really want to put bras in the wash take them out before the spin cycle, its that that knackers the padding. I agree with the other Bravissimo is fab, personally like the strappy tops with the in-built bras:T

Squeeky - padding in larger bras is more reinforcing than anything else, there's only so much 1 layer of fabric can do:rotfl:
  • Thankyou all for your advice. Sounds like handwashing is the way forward. To Helzbelz...your advice about removing before spin cycle makes great sense. When I remove them from the machine you can clearly see they've been squashed.

To squeaky....personally, like Gingham Ribbon I only wear padded bras underneath tight fitting t-shirts because they do produce a smooth line. Before padded bras my dear OH kept saying he could hang his coat off me!! lol lol

Thanks again for your advice. Seems I need to stop being lazy and just plain and simply handwash. Will give that a go because I sure as hell can't afford to keep replacing them. lol Will also check out bravissimo. Recommendations are always helpful. Have a good weekend all.

I used to only handwash my bras, but I can't be bothered any more, tbh.

I just stick them in a pillowcase and tie a knot at the top before putting in the machine. Find that works fine. I guess if I had a really special delicate one, I'd still handwash tho'.

Well I'm gradually replacing all my cheap bra's with bravissimo. They're not cheap but for the larger chested woman they are a must I'm afraid... especially if you want something different from your normal "granny" bra...
Squaky as for the padded ones... certain times of the month some women can get sensitive and quite tender and a padded bra can just take the discomfort out of it a little. As well as obviously helping with keeping nipples flat and so on.
I use a handwash I bought YEARS ago when travelling - I was living in hotels so long that I started washing my own clothes as there were no laundrettes I could find in Oslo. Saly the only size of this handwash powder for TRAVEL came in a box with enough for 50 washes... I ask you! How practical is that for travel! I still have about 15 saches left I think :) Gets any stain (once spilt chocolate icecream on one (don't ask!)) out so far...

Beat ya!!!! As a 30HH I could not cope without Bravissimo. The best shop going by far :j
:p I win, or loose, whichever way you see it.

Anyway, 32JJ bras (K sometimes depends on style) are another expense in itself (I know how you lot feel trust me, I was in a HH by the age of 16 pre kids, size 8 waist I looked hilarious! pleased I'm a bigger as they blend in), aswell as finding them. We do have Sadie's up here which is also good. Sometimes buy in Debenhams if they have one and is a sale on. If you must wash a bra in the machine try the bra wash bag from Kleeneze. I have a couple of 'cheaper' (still £22) old bras I machine wash and use one of those.

Didn't realise Bravissimo did a 6 month guarantee, I have one that will be going back next week if that's the case! Off to drop them an email now, got a bra last month and where the wires are has gone bare, I'm allergic to the metal :( god it hurts.
One day I might be more organised...........

I've heard hanging them on hangers to dry them helps them to keep their shape

Another fan of handwashing here (34GG).

I use this lavender stuff from Lakeland. It's called Wool Mix, but you can use it to handwash delicates. The great thing about it is you don't need to rinse it out. (I do rinse my bras, but I don't have to worry too much about getting it all out).

I use about a thimbleful in my bathroom washbasin, so a bottle lasts me over a year.

Oh as for washing, I love Persil Silk and wool for handwashing, lovely stuff, might try the Tesco one when I eventually run out. Drying I peg them on my airer by the straps usually or if I can find it on the original hanger (same principal)

I've started washing mine in the shower in the evening when I get in . Somebody on another thread mentioned that they do this (could have been Aussielass). I just use a bar of green Fairy soap give it a good rub through and then rinse in and hang over the shower curtain pole to dry. Its dry the next morning and ready to go back on.
