Isn't it?! I was in someone's house last week and they made me a cup of tea (lovely :)) There wasn't anywhere obvious to put the cup when I'd finished so I sat and held it for two hours unless I got up to leave :rotfl:.
I laughed when I read this as that's exactly what I do, sit there holding the mug for ages wondering what to do with it! (and why they have no coasters :p )

Yes he was born in another country. He did ask to go to the toilet as I pointed it to him and I'm sure I remember him opening the door before I went out back to the kitchen.

Now I'm thinking on perhaps it's a religious thing.

As you didn't actually see him naked, just heard the shower running, it could be a religious thing (Muslim, I think), where the followers have to thoroughly wash their feet (certain times and before prayer?).

Many hospitals in London have installed large low to floor "basins" with towels and soaps, so that followers can do this at the appropriate time.

Could be that - although he should have asked first.

I've not read more than page 1 but there are a number of bowel diseases, crohns etc that cause extreme toilet needs but that people get on with c/we say gastroenteritis for 48 hours locked up at home . He may even have an ostomy and got into difficulty.

I suggest OP leaves it, it's not really cost her anything much at all and given her a funny story. If she ends up getting closer to this guy she may find out in the future. But I wouldn't embarrass everyone involved by asking questions now xxx

Oh yes, I would absolutely leave it, and not say anything to him at all. Although I have to say: it is a REALLY strange way to behave.

I have never experienced anything like this!
    You didn't, did you? :rotfl::rotfl:
  • I wouldn't mention it to him, I would go and have a chat with the most gossipy person or group in the office and drop subtle hints about things until they flat out ask you what happened and then tell them. They'll either come up with a good reason for it happening or they'll tell so many people that word will get round to him and an explanation will come back around again to you eventually. Problem solved.

Now I'm having a twisted-mind interest in this. I wasn't aware you could get verrucas anywhere but toes or fingers! Sure that wasn't...genital warts? :o Only I'm not aware of a condition that would manifest as verrucas outside of fingers and toes.

Molluscum Contagiosum is a viral infection that resembles warts, although it sounds like a Harry Potter spell :D

It can occur anywhere on the body.

My son had it as a toddler.

Please OP come back and update when you've found out :rotfl: Ive just read this thread out to my Mum :rotfl: she walked off shaking her head saying "theres some odd people in this world..."
  • Maybe he is used to using a bidet shower?

I would have had no problem with why he needed to shower if forewarned so that I could have provided a guest towel etc.

I don't think I would try to embarrass him as it could be that any of the scenarios could be relevant. (apart from the ridiculous perv comment)

At the end of the day it could be any of us who needed help

    I've been Money Tipped!
This is odd on the surface but I see a number of plausible explanations.

    1. He had a dish dodgy tummy and NEEDED to clean
    2. He is from a different culture where they don't use toilet paper as the primary form of cleaning

Why did he 'need help?'

It's not a ridiculous comment to suspect he is a bit pervy. He could have been doing ANYthing to the OP's stuff in that bathroom, and anything WITH her stuff.

The fact is that he didn't ask, and that was rude and inconsiderate and frankly, weird.

My mind would be in turmoil wondering why he had done it, and what he did when he was in there.

It's not bad or unreasonable to think it's a bit weird and pervy, for a strange man to strip NAKED in your bathroom and wipe himself down with your towels and use all your personal stuff, without asking.

All that said, I wouldn't say anything to him about it, but never ask him in again.

How long was he up there? If he's a Muslim, he might not actually have had a shower, perhaps he just washed his feet in the bath. I know my OH washes his in our teeny tiny sink which I find ridiculous - I'd just stand in the bath and do it! I'm not sure whether I'd mention it to a friend/colleague if I washed my feet in their house, and maybe he's used to spending time with other Muslims who would expect it. If he was washing feet, he would presumably be saying his prayers straight after so he would have spent a few minutes upstairs after the shower noise stopped. Did he?

I doubt he was rinsing off his bum in your shower, unless he had a messy accident. People who normally wash after a poo but who live in the UK are used to the lack of facilities - they'd just use a water bottle (their own!) or wet some loo roll or just use the dry loo roll. If they're that bothered, they'll carry a bottle or wet wipes with them.
