Sold an electrical item* last week for £30 inc postage. It wasn't fully working, but was working enough to list it as "used" rather than "for parts not working"

    * ie a TV that works as a TV, but the built in DVD is faulty.

Anyway, the buyer is now unhappy that it isnt working correctly and would like to know what I intend to do "before leaving feedback.."

As my item had a minor issue I made it £40 cheaper than the others online and would hope that a buyer would realise that.

I've told them 4 times now to send it back for a full refund but all they keep bleating on about is feedback.

Might send them some !!!!!! undies in the post.

Why would you not tell someone paying good money for your item what you told us for free??

That's rhetorical because there's only one rational explanation

    To scam someone

    The judge would say

Do you think they would have bought it knowing the dvd player did not work?

Honest answer is "no" (hence this information was hidden)

    = intent to deceive
When will the "Edit" and "Quote" button get fixed on the mobile web interface?

Listing as spares or repairs doesn't mean that something won't still get a good price.

Well, we don't know for sure what the listing said, but it's pretty clear that the OP's attitude to his buyers needs improvement!

It read to me like he clearly listed it as used rather than telling the truth that the DVD player doesn't work, rather an important feature of a DVD TV combo to leave out if you ask me.

Right. Had a busy day and just catching up.. It was listed as used and the minor fault was listed and described. But the buyer is unhappy with the fault saying it is going to cost more to fix than what they thought.

It isn't a TV. I just used that as an example of an electrical item. ie it can still be used as a television, but the other feature doesnt fully work and is tempermental ie a built in dvd player or built in freeview or teletext or the contrast wont adjust etc

You really should have mentioned the highlighted sentence in your original post.

That does make the situation different. In this case the buyer can't really complain as he was aware of the issue. You have done all you can in offering a return and in this instance I think he should be the one to pay for this.

Still I think the underwear would be going a bit to far!

1/ half of a TV DVD not working is not a minor fault
    It's a major fault

2/ I personally do not believe you said "DVD not working" in the listing because you can't even bring yourself to say it nownow. You probably said what you've just said "has minor fault"

That's a con of ever I saw one

So do not be surprised by grief from a buyer when you cannot be open and honest with them

I bet you don't read ebay listings because you don't read the posts you reply to. The OP said he used the TV/DVD scenario AS AN EXAMPLE.

If the e bay listing was as clear as this post then i am not surprised the buyer was !!!!!! off

The TV is just an example of an electrical item which can still be used as a TV.

    Some examples;

A car radio which sometimes has an issue playing cds - it still works as a radio/cd player, just 90% of the time.

The hoover I use for cleaning my car works as a hoover, but every now and then you need to mess with the switch to make it turn on.
