Where were you intending to go on holiday, Syria?

No way, it's my first time going aboard, so I picked the more popular choice of Tenerife.

I sent my MP an email on Saturday with all the deatails and not even heard from my MP, how long does it take them to get in touch or look into matters.

Some MPs do not bother to reply at all...

At one time my MP was Ben Bradshaw, who is a nationally-known figure and has a well-structured process for managing correspondence. I think his web page gives details of the time frame for replying: one key point is that the time frame is the same for emails as for old-fashioned letters, so not immediate.

I think that a response time of two or three weeks is reasonable, but you could telephone her/his office and ask about their time-frames, or just see if details are given on the web-site.

Do not make the mistake of hassling your MP within a few days, since that tends to annoy people.

Thank you, well I've contacted him twice, so he is fully aware on how long I have been waiting, so next week I am just going to contact the passport office myself, I'm just crossing my fingers they will have some process for me and all their checks are completed.

I've just read this thread for the first time and agree 100% with this:

If this is a renewal then there is more to this than what is being suggested.

How did the Passport Office get the wrong date of birth? It is already in the Passport sent back to be renewed! And what is the address issue? Passports do not have addresses in them and your renewal application will (assuming you have completed it correctly) have your current address where the new Passport and any supporting documents will be returned to. You may have move numerous times since your previous Passport was issued. Indeed since my last renewal I had moved 3 times.

So, how did they know they had the wrong address? This all seems as if there is a bit more we are not being told about. I know the Passport Office can be slow on occasions, but I believe that the OP is, perhaps, being economical with the truth if this is a simple renewal as suggested.

The only reason I have had is, Sometimes an application gets choosen at random for additional checks, this is what the call centre told me, but the call centre do not really know what happens in the office. So I am left in limbo really to the reason why.
The above may be true but 4 months......?

The timescales for a first passport are stated at "at least 6 weeks".

A renewal taking over 16 weeks sounds really strange.
Some sort of identify mix-up maybe?
