There are anecdotes with every company both good and bad.
although I can understand why you wouldn’t want to use a company you’d had bad personal experience with.

    Car insurance.
My car insurance broker  has cancelled my car policy insurance  because I didn't take them up on the breakdown cover. Even tho I paid in full and said I may take them up at a later date on the breakdown cover which I didn't.. Can my policy be reinstated.

I was passed from pillar to post on the phone which took 2 hours to finally be told that they cannot fix a puncture.
They fixed my puncture with no quibbles at all.

What does that have to do with AutoAid?

    Nothing......

  • I needed Auto Aid. I gave all my details address, DOB car reg number plus I was on my mobile which they would also have registered. The guy who answered refused to help because I did not have the policy number on me. I was shocked at the response.  When discussed with auto Aid later they offered a £5.00 reduction on my next renewal. Very disappointed at their response.

I just renewed with Auto Aid over the phone (as they had my old card details, and you can't change this online) and I gave all my card details, and the fairly nonchalant woman I spoke to said that "the merchant says the card is declined". She asked who my card was with, and I said Amazon - i.e. NewDay, to which she said that AutoAid don't support NewDay.

To be honest, I got the impression that NewDay have blocked AutoAid, not the other way around (why else would the merchant decline the transaction from AutoAid?). I may be wrong, but it's a little odd. In the end I paid with another card with no further issues.
  • I speak as I find so, no apologies for content.
I started using Autoaid several years ago - maybe 10? - after a recommendation by MoneySavingExpert.  Since then I have had to use their services on maybe 4 or 5 occasions.  Once, I couldn't get hold of them and per their rules I paid for help.  They weren't happy but with only a little discussion they reimbursed me in full. Other occasions they have sent out transport, always within 1 - 1/2 hours.  We have 2 cars and 2 motorbikes between my wife and I.  I use a bike for commuting.  All are covered by Autoaid.  After a serious breakdown on the bike Autoaid arranged for collection/delivery of my bike with a specialist company without any hassle.
As far as I'm concerned they are excellent value, and excellent service.  I have had problems with both AA and RAC years ago but now I'm with Autoaid it would take a lot to convince me to move.
    Thanks for the recommendation MSE!!!!

That's crazy, they've never needed my policy number.

  • STAY AWAY!  I'm not sure MSE can recommend these guys, I signed up based on the MSE info, but then on further research found some very poor feedback on these guys.  I phoned up to cancel less than 24 hours later (14 day cooling of period) & they still charged me a £15 admin cancelation fee!  Unapologetic & forthright that it was in the "small print".  Thats 21% of of the product fee!!!   I still cancelled through principle.  STAY AWAY!
