Seriously considering signing up to this but a little concerned as it is shown as 'Highly recommended ' but has 33% 1 star on reviews?
    Any comment from the team?

    Have you read the reviews?
Are the comments justified? Sometimes they are not, but I agree 33% is worrying.
I’d read them and see if they apply to me or whether they are unreasonable.
  • I tried to subscribe to this service on seeing the offer for £53.99 per annum but for the webpage requested £59.99. I stopped the transaction and reapplied using all the details i had given previously. I then found i was unable to use my active debit card due to an error. The bank had blocked payemnt. I therefore had to call security at the bank to get the block lifted and go through all their security requests and then phone the auto aid (euro rescue) to ask for a refund as i had been charged twice. I used online applications to speed up yhe subscriptions but found it most frustraing and taken a good part of my busy morning schedule. Just hope the service is better than their online subscription service ! Thanks for listening.
  • I had a very positive experience with them. Car broke down, they answered my call quickly, and a local garage came out within 20 minutes to sort the problem.
  • Recent experience: I requested a home call-out to look at a seized handbrake. Local mechanic arrived within the hour as agreed but hadn't been informed what he was coming to. When I told him, he responded "yeah I'm not touching that it's electronic." The only option was to take me to a garage, but at 9pm none were open and by then I'd used up my one-callout-per-fault allocation. So for me, this service is only as good as the mechanic they send - in my case this was somewhat lacking.
  • I've been with AutoAid about 7 years. Only called out once and they were very good. But I just got stung by their change to autorenewal. They say they emailed me last month about the change, but I didn't get anything.

With the increase in annual premium I took a policy with RAC and didn't renew autoaid only to find a £60 charge yesterday. Checked my new schedule and it's £30 minimum in charges to cancel.

It would've been cheaper to cancel RAC, but to be honest this sneaking change to policy (surely a change ike this should have been mailed out), means I've cancelled autoaid even if it is more expensive, and wont be going back.
Very, very disappointed to end my association with them this way.

Thought I'd check the price history....your correct OMG!

To be fair, still the best value fully comp cover https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/car-insurance/breakdown-cover/
Also ... I did leave a review on Trust Pilot, complaining about them lacking in the renewal department.   Looks like I got what I asked for :(
Advice is cheap! Hence their is a lot of it about!

The last email I got about my renewal, on 10-Dec-2019, said "Please note this policy will not be automatically renewed"
2kWp Solar PV - 10*200W Kioto, SMA Sunny Boy 2000HF, SSE facing, some shading in winter, 37° pitch, installed Jun-2011, inverter replaced Sep-2017 AND Feb-2022.

"AutoAid are an award-winning UK car breakdown service and are highly recommended by The Money Saving Expert."
My policy with them expires on 17th April.  So far (2nd April) I have received SIX identical emails from them at about three-day intervals suggesting I renew at £59.99, the previous year's figure being £48.31.
Since I and my car will be self-isolated at home for the foreseeable future, there doesn't seem to be a need for such an award-winning and highly-recommended service, particularly when one reads recent Trustpilot reviews...

    Would not recomend Autoaidbreakdown.
Terrible practice the autorenewal which was stealthily applied via email. If you cancel within 14 days you are charged £33
So hike the price, apply autorenewal by default, and charge over 50% cancellation fee.
    Brilliant!

Would letting the policy lapse have the same outcome? Would charges still be brought as your not cancelling
