It also seems like from some of the response, that I shouldn't be slating Vauxhall and I ought to give them another chance.
My experience with them was rubbish. I had a relatively low mileage Astra, that I services annually and drive carefully and it was unreliable as hell. I have every right to slate them. And besides being unreliable it's also a terrible drive, clunky gears and slow with crap fuel mileage.
I know this is a money saving site but I want a GOOD car for my budget not a CHEAP RUBBISH car0 -
If you want a reliable car then Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla, Hyundai Accent or Getz, Mazda 3. With Vauxhall and Ford you pay over the odds for what you get because they are 'household' names.0

About a reliable as a Vauxhall.0 -
I've narrowed it down to either the Auris or an 07/08 Honda Civic.
About the Alpha Romeo Brera I absolutely love the shape. Do they drive well like the civic or better?
I don't mind treating myself to a bit of luxury, ok my budget I could also afford the BMW 116i. Are these any good?0 -

I'm going to view a 2007 Toyota Auris 1.6 petrol multi mode automatic. What's the general concensous on this car and it's transmission?
I would prefer an automatic but it seems they're on average a grand more than the equivalent manual0 -
I thought you were complaining about poor fuel economy? Now you're leaning towards a petrol automatic?
I'm with BTIA. I sniff dark matter.0
