Burtons Store Card from 1990 - Upheld - and they had my account history
What were you reclaiming: PPI
Who was the provider: Santander
How much did you get back: £4056.awaiting payment
Used the FREE RESOLVER TOOL
Found an old Burtons statement from 2005, tried claiming through GE Money to who I paid monthly. this was declined as couldn't find my account. Gave in and didn't pursue further however, after reading this forum again (4 previous successful claims) decided why not give it a go with Santander and Genworth who I thought were the underwriters at the time. This was sent 12 April. Received letter today : Santander investigated against AXA France IARD and AXA France VIE - this was upheld, £827 in PPI payment refund, 8% interest 2433 - this was calculated from 1993 - for interest from 1990-1993 was at 15%. The letter states they have full account history from 2005 anf prior to that PPI, interest and total spending so if anyone has been fobbed off that they don't have account details I would push! I've been compensated for 29 years. the account was closed almost 10 years ago.
They further investigated SCUKL (Santander cards) but this was time barred. needless to say 10 mins of filling in Resolver providing a copy of a statement and submnitting, not a bad hourly rate. If anyting I was only expecting a few hundred as I thought there would be no account history.
Happy bunny!
In total I've successfully received £17k in claims - MBNA 3200 (paid out within 8 weeks), 4000 Capital One (that went to Ombudsman - took almost 2 years) Barclaycard - interesting one - rejected and rejected by Ombudsman. 3 years later letter out of the blue asking for further information as I was one of a few million whose claim had not been investigated properly, sent my contract of employment as requested, 2 days later £5600 received - boom hello Australia0 -
I made a claim using Martin's template in 2011/12 to Barclays credit card, Alliance & Leicester, credit card & Santander who was GE money at the time of my loan.
Barclay awarded me £1,235 but Santander who was als now respnsible for Alliance & Leicester declined both my claims.
Last Saturday I received letter from Santander in respect of my GE money loan, has now awarded me £3,472.23 redress based FCA ruling, but no 8% interest.
In 2016 I signed up with Allay claims just to check if I was entitled to any other PPI's because I was successful with Barclays but any others they approached came back saying I had no PPI with them.
I was shocked to receivea letter today from Allay nearly 3 years later saying 'we have won' & an invoice for their fee at 36%, which is £1,250.06, for a claim I originally made myself. I can't believe this is right!!0 -

You are correct. It is not right. The Ministry of Justice said in their bulletin in August 2014 that billing on future redress could be considered fraud. This is becoming a bit of an FAQ on this forum with claims companies trying it on.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Working full time just indicates that you were eligible for PPI.0 -

Your records are either with HMRC, your own files or your memory. Taking into account the fact most firms now have built up databases of common details of employee benefits, if you claim to have some amazing deal they will expect proof.
As money says above, many people believe they have fantastic benefits, most have SSP. Outside of certain jobs in the civil service and perhaps some well paid senior roles in private firms, it's rare to get more than a couple of weeks paid sick leave before you go onto SSP. Indeed the job I am doing now, the firm who used to own our division literally paid nothing for sick pay, your salary was reduced if you were ill by the number of days off you had taken, the current one at least has paid sick leave for a while.Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Good evening,
• What were you reclaiming:PPI on loan/credit card (1998/2002)
• Who was the provider: Bank of Scotland
• How much did you get back: £6,608.50
• Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: Two letters,no phone call, no questionnaire.
Well I am still in total shock!
I am very proud to now be debt free but, I didn't do it via PPI reclaim (nothing wrong in that of course). I worked for years to pay the debts off for my two limited companies and huge personal debt and now I feel like somebody is looking out for me.
I successfully reclaimed Single Premium PPI from Barclays that was mis-sold in 2012 and 2014 pertaining to my business(all redress settled a longstanding commercial loan). However, I was too embarrassed to make PPI inquiries with regards my personal debt until more recently. I wanted to pay the debt off first-daft I know!
Thank goodness I made contact before it was too late!!
I presently have direct claims with:
Santander: 2 x GE Capital Store Cards
Barclaycard: 3 credit cards
Yorkshire Building Society: Mortgage Unemployment Cover PPI
Cananda Square: 1 Egg Card
Bank of Scotland: Please see above
Capital One: one credit card-settled for £299.00
I was expecting a potential refund of £300 from Bank of Scotland for an old loan. It transpires I had several and the bank has upheld these with very little question. Such a strange situation given that the likes of Santander and Barclays (my own bank since 1991) have grilled me from the outset!
I am extremely embarrassed to find aged 47 I had so much insurance I was unaware of. I pride myself on being methodical and meticulous in my business but, debt to me has always meant shame!
A great win today from Bank of Scotland and years of debt may have ironically been quite advantageous, though I would never wish to be in that position again!
I should possible mention that I worked full time for British Airways PLC for over 13 years and received 6-12 months full pay for sickness and good redundancy cover...I'm wondering if this information has made a difference with regards eligibility of the PPI....
Thank you so much to this fantastic forum and those that very kindly give their time to honestly moderate:j
Do hope I can bring you more good news soon...keep doing what you are doing-it really makes a difference!0 -
Many congratulations. Thanks for posting your success and good luck with the rest. How long has it taken for BOS to get back to you. Was it the full 8 weeks? I’m about 5 weeks in for most of mine. Had plevin success with capital one. Was only £173 but got it in 5 days of applying and all for an email!

Hello!
Thank you so much...it was a massive surprise. Most of my borrowing/insurance was with other lenders so I really wasn't expecting this.
It took 6.5 weeks in total for BOS from submitting an inquiry to receiving confirmation of payment redress...
Good luck and keep the faith!0 -
I took out a loan with a company who were building our conservatory in 2000. I hadn’t realised I was paying PPI, I thought it was part of the loan. Fortunately I still had the paperwork with account details on it.
Barclays are now responsible for Woolwich. I completed a form on the MSExpert site and received a cheque for £995!
£393 PPI premiums paid
£78 interest
£653 statutory compensation
Less £131 interest paid for income tax at 20%
Thank you Martin, I went to investigate my filing cabinet after listening to you talk about the PPI deadline on TV and am delighted with the result.0
