My BarclayCard PPI claim was rejected but on the Plevin front they agreed and I got £5000 which has now been paid. Additionally a HSBC claim has come back accepted and they are sending me £55 so not a bad day.
Still waiting on Santander over a Burton store card, I chased them but apparently there is a delay because they need to clarify with the FSA/FCA (cant remember who they said on the call) about how compensation is paid due to it being a "grey area" as store cards are different. Sounds like bullplop to me but I will bide my time.0 -

Let's hope it's not the FSA...0 -

Can anyone help?
We sent a letter to the Newcastle Buildibg Society regarding PPI they replied quickly saying
Yes we have but we signed for it of which they sent us proof that we had .
They said we had to choose 1of 3 products to secure the Morgage.
My first question is they had proof sent from my husbands employer that he was paid indefinatley when off sick .
We feel we were misold this.
Included in the letter they said if we did decide to go ahead with the claim they would go ahead to recover the extra quarter of a oercent interest which was allowed of which we knew nothing about .
Very bullying letter ,has anyone any advice as worried about claiming now ..0 -

Not uncommon. A number of mortgage deals in the past had an insurance cross subsidy purchase. i.e. to get that deal you had to buy one of their insurance products. That is allowed as long as the insurance was suitable. My first question is they had proof sent from my husbands employer that he was paid indefinatley when off sick .
Are you sure? There isnt an employer in the land with such sickness benefits. We feel we were misold this.
Nothing you have said suggests any missale so far.Included in the letter they said if we did decide to go ahead with the claim they would go ahead to recover the extra quarter of a oercent interest which was allowed of which we knew nothing about .
That is logical. You can't have your cake and eat it.Very bullying letter ,has anyone any advice as worried about claiming now ..
The letter will not be bullying. It has to use a defined method and process. No wishy washy. It can also reflect the tone you used in your letter to them. For example, if you use legalistic language or start quoting acts of parliament or sections of acts then they will often reply in a similar legalstic style. Those can seem quite blunt.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. I have been trying to get my PPI back from EGG (CANADA SQUARE OPERATIONS) for almost 9 years. I finally went to the FOA who agreed with EGG that I was not entitled to any. Received a letter 28 September from EGG regarding the high commission paid on the PPI policy. The letter states " Our records show that you have previously made a complaint against your Egg card which was upheld. As redress was offered providing a full refund of the premiums paid for the PPI policy, even if the Plevin case were applicable to the sale of your policy, you would be due no further redress in respect of any commissions."
I have not received a single penny of redress yet they admit the complaint was upheld.
I have sent a copy of the letter to the Financial Ombudsman who have spoken with EGG (Canada Square Operations) who have told them it was a mistake in the letter.
Can anyone please advise me what to do here. I have it in Black and White that they upheld my complaint yet still trying not to pay me but stating that they have.
Do I have a legal stance here ?? Please help if you can. Thanks0 -

The ombudsman has been rejecting complaints where there is 6 months full and 6 months half pay when it comes to MPPI. Its a reason that works well with short term unsecured liabilities (loans/credit cards). It is not a reason that works well with long term secured liabilities like a mortgage.
MPPI pays out in addition to sick pay. So, not an issue. Some types of PPI do not. If yours was one of those, then it would be a reason for complaint.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Why do you need a legal stance?
Canada square have said its the wrong letter. So, that means a new letter will be on its way to you with the correct information.
