Got offer for DH PPI yesterday for £1,900.
Thanks to the advice from Martin and everyone else on this thread, just got to convince hubby to spend abit on me now since I did all the work on his behalf for his loans, he was never bothered about claiming. SO JUST TRY AND CLAIM IT.

My wife tried to reclaim her PPI from MBNA but they said they wouldn't! They also said the PPI was also still active on her account, even though she has finished paying of the debt!
Anyone any ideas on wat to do next?

What reasons did MBNA give for rejecting and do you mean that the PPI is still being paid by your wife?.

just to update: a few months ago I put in a claim against Lloyds for 2 concurrent loans & was rejected. I contacted the ombudsman & on Friday received a letter stating that they were up holding my claim.

Lloyds should contact me shortly with an offer & have up to 8 weeks in which to pay up.

The figure should be in the region of 3k.
I don't respond to stupid so that's why I am ignoring you.

They should send you a breakdown of the redress, contact them and ask for this.
What was the original PPI amount and did you settle the loan early or did it run to term?.

original PPI amount was £5,000 loan. I argued about PPI on the loan form 1st month of having it and this went on for 2 1/2 years.

then they only agreed to remove PPI if I refinanced loan into a new agreement.

In effect I hardly paid anything off after those 2 1/2 years and started paying the 5k off again. the reason being while I was arguing with |Lloyds during the 1st loan they "advised"
me to make reduced payments until they investigated. I asked wouldn't that mean i'm not paying the loan off but they said it was PPI element. I rang them every month complaining always getting a different person telling me different reasoning's as to why it wasn't being sorted out.

when I "reluctantly" agreed to refinance the loan to ensure the PPI came off, I found out that actually while I had been paying reduced payments I had in fact just been paying the PPI element and nothing of the total loan.

subsequently I have now paid the new loan agreement off in full.

my fault in all of this (during the period of the 1st loan) was that I was carefree with my finances and while I knew I was in the right and did ring religiously to complain about it I never kept records of names, time of calls things like that. also my account ended up being in collections because of these reduced payments which meant I couldn't even go into a branch and discuss it as they would only ever tell I could only deal with collections team in Brighton over a phone.

It wasn't until I became more settled in my private life I actively started pursuing it properly.

I only agreed to a new refinanced loan as I wanted to draw a line under it all and just start paying off the bloody money I owed them (5k)!!

    Hi all,
I just received a letter from the Ombudsman stating they have upheld my complaint against Cheltenham & Gloucester (using Lloydstsb) for my mortgage payments.

C&G/Lloyds declined last year so I went to the FOS and a year later they have agreed with me. They state I should receive an offer letter within 28 days, does anyone know if this is correct or if they are taking a lot longer.
    Thanks!!!

The Bank can still appeal the decision, so don't be counting any chickens just yet.

The FOS process has been taking around eighteen months recently.

Thanks for the reply Moneyineptitude, I didn't realise they could appeal. Is this the norm do you know?
  • I also had mine upheld by the FOS in Jan, FOS gave LLoyds TSB until 23rd Feb to reply or challenge the decision. However they still haven't replied back to the FOS even after reminders being sent. So wouldn't look for it within the 28 days
  • Between 2003 and 2008 I had four loans from Lloyds TSB. After reading the success stories on this page (and having had daily phone calls from automated PPI Reclaim Companies) I decided to contact Lloyds directly to put a claim in. For the price of a 10 minute 0844 call I have just been sent an offer of just over £10,000!

I can't believe how easy it's been. My local branch gave me the correct number to call so I rang and logged my complaints. They were very helpful and requested the best times/numbers to call me back, kept me updated with my claim status each time they rang me for further information (about 3 calls received in all), and it was jargon free! Of the four loans I had, the first complaint was rejected but the other three upheld (pretty much what I was expecting them to say). I'm now at the point where I accept or reject their offer and it's only about five weeks since my initial phone call.

If you're not sure whether or not to bother, just do it. What have you got to lose other than the price of a phone call or the price of a stamp?! Good luck!
