PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

Hi All!
Had a letter today from firstplus (after only one letter to them) £6,500 being paid off the balance of our loan and £2500 being paid by cheque to us direct for the 8% interest - we already had the 'cashback' for the PPI which was part of the policy 3 years ago. We are very very happy! Our loan repayment also goes down £110 per month so in a few days we will ring them and ask what effect it will to the length of the loan if we keep our current payments.
Thanks Martin and everyone else for making this possible!! xxxxx0 -
Hi all
I wrote to Mint on 7th June to start a claim for PPI on a Mint Loan. Got a letter from them this morning offering me £3,796.55 and I am absolutely thrilled to bits!
So, I would just like to thank everyone on this site/forum which encouraged me to do it! I never thought for a minute that I would get anything back cos things like that don't happen to folk like me!!!!
Thanks again guys0 -

I assume you require this for Barclays?
Good luck.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
I emailed the CEO of Barclays and yesterday received a call about the missing cheque. They said they had put a stop on it and were sending a new one yesterday, which should be with my today or Monday.
This morning received a cheque for £7322.46 - absolutely brilliant. The postmark on the enveloppe is yesterday, but the cheque and letter are both dated 9th September so I am not sure if this is the new cheque or the stopped one. Should I just pay it into the bank and wait and see?
Congratulations to all the winners. Long may it continue.
Well done to you!
I may be wrong, but my guess, this was the missing cheque - if dated all the way back to the 9th, and they may have cancelled it, because of sending another, so what I would do just to be on the safe side is give them a ring to make sure.
Good luck. x:)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Hi I am a long time lurker but this is my first post so please be gentle!
I currently have four claims for missold PPI in with Black Horse each one is a personal loan and each one paid the previous one off early (hope that makes sense!). Right from the very first one I was told that unless I took out the PPI I wouldn't get the loan as I had a mortgage in just my sole name and also I had a not so good credit rating. On the loans after 2002 they also said that as I was a single parent that I certainly wouldn't get the loan accepted without it!! How young and silly I was back then to believe this! I have always been in employment and my jobs have always had good sick pay i.e. full pay for 6 months and then half pay for six months and I pointed this out in my meetings however again was told I wouldn't be accepted without it.
I know that this is what happened as I do have a very good memory (my DH says its a curse!) and I can even remember the name of the person who processed my last loan and that was back in 2005!
Anyhow the reason for this long ramble is that yesterday I received a letter from BH in respect of the first loan and the claim hasn't been upheld they have sent what seems to be the generic letter stating I would have had it all explained to me and that I had 30 days to cancel and therefore they don't think it was missold."
Well yes they may well have explained to me what it covered and that i had 30 days to cancel but they also said i had to take it out or not be accepted even when i said I was covered for sick through work!!
So my question is how do I take it further as I do not intend to just leave it there! Can I go back to BH or should I go to FLA as they suggest?
Sorry its so long!
Any help will be greatly appreciated x
Hi there & welcome
The cover was worthless to you and it was not sold in your best interest, so you can either give it another go by writing back, tell them they missed your points on your complaint totally, and you are asking them to reconsider.
Give them 14 days.
Normally in the final response they confirm its final and enclose details and the leaflet of the financial ombudsman service (FOS) if your eligible to go that direction.
Did they actually mention the FLA then?
These are the financial leasing association and they are suggested to fo this avenue and not the FOS if the business were not regulated at the time of the sale of that actual policy.
However, going by posts on here, the FLA are not that helpful, but you could give it a go if this fails on the next letter, or if you hear nothing by 14 days of sending a reconsideration letter with further information.
The FOS will only be able to adjudicate complaints if the business were then regulated by the FSA prior to these regulators GISC.
But if you contact the FOS (if all else fails), they may suggest going the underwriter/insurer avenue of the business as another avenue of trying to get your money back to you.
Hope this helps, good luck.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

Found my letter last night, £5400 on its way to me. (soon I hope)
As my card is still active, do they take this amount off my card balance, reconstruct the balance and refund me the above amount?
This will effectively clear my card, except for bout £200. Am I correct im reading it this way??
Please put my mind at ease
Its Lloyds tsb by way
Well done on your success!
Did it give any details of how they are refunding this on the letter you received?
It may differ, but if they've not given you details, I would contact them and ask them first so you know what is what, good luck.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

Hi there
You have posted in the right section of the PPI forums, but what I would do is post this on a separate thread within these forums and subject is "Mortgage PPI help" if you've not done so yet, this way dunstonh and magpiecottage who normally deals with these matters should be along to help at some point with the right advice.
Good luck and the link below to the new thread.;)

Hooray. Just got 5 offers from RBS totaling £11189.14:beer:
I claimed for 3 loans and a credit card but it appears so far they have linked 5 loans as all appear to say Loan Account?
My problem is that it does not state when these payments relate to. I know i went through a spell of adding to loans 6 months after taking out last one so that is about right.
At the start of the process in September last year i went with a claims company as i knew not a jot about PPI. They have three loan claims and a credit card claim on their books. How do i know which ones are with them and which ones are not?
I also think there is more to come including my credit card. Do they come separately does anyone know?
Also if i phone them will RBS tell me what time the loan refund covered as i am a bit short on paperwork for most of this?
i want this info before sending my acceptance as i dont want to pay the CMC any money that they have not earned( if you call sending one or two letters in a year earning £3000!)
Still it is great to have my own money back and as i was made redundant yesterday it will help me have time before i need to find a job full time
Congratulation to all successes and good luck to all waiting.
A curry and a little vino for me i think:money::j:beer::T:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: and perhaps a little one for all the people on here that have helped and informed me and millions of others. Gon Yursell Marty Boy!:T:T:T

difference between the actual ad revised balance: £2437.58
Credit Interest at 8% per annum £32.91

I took my card out in 2002 and i cancelled ppi in June this year.
I only have full records for 2008 to present and my ppi paid in this 42 month period is £1154.17. Obviously there is a further 5 1/2 years to add to this. I realise giving a definite answer is hard to give to this but can anyone tell me if my refund seems fair? I dont want to sound greedy but it seems a little short to me. If so what do I do??
Well done on your success!
Hopefully one of the clever folks who deals with the calculations will be along shortly or over the weekend anyway, good luck.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0
