Hi, Can somebody help me. I have attempted to claim back PPI on a car hire purchase agreement but the response has been that this agreement with the company started before they were FSA authorised and that it is there understanding that this falls outside the Financial Ombudsman Service jurisdiction. What does this mean? Any advice gratefully appreciated.0

some years ago we took out a secured loan with welcome finance the loan was for £25k but there was £11k for insurance i'm guessing. when we paid it off by consolidating it with our motgage we had to pay £33k and not the amount outstanding on the loan itself as they said they had lent us the money to pay for the insurance...
can we claim this back?'Children are not things to be moulded, but are people to be unfolded'0 -
Have the same question with Welcome. They added another £4000 upfront. This loan replaced a car loan we had with them which had about £1600 PPI, but it was all cleared with the new arrangment. Should we have had a rebate on the PPI? The first agreement was only in place for 10 months then all repaid. Also feel this was mis-sold as my hubby was self employed and would therefore have not been covered should his short term contract have ended.0

Just had a reply from black horse saying they are dealing with my claim, and will be contacted, has anyone else had dealings with them, or proton finance0

My wife recieved a letter today from Abbey, responding to the 1st templet letter used from this site.
They have said
Dear Mrs Beaman
Thanks for telling us that you no longer need PPI for your abbey loan.
We've cancelled this for you. Your new monthly payments wil be ******, starting on 20 October 2007. We have passed your letter to our "Customer Complaints" dept regarding your insurance complaint.
If you have any questions please give us a call.
Yours blah blah blah
Ok a question.....
1. In the letter sent there was no mention to them to stop the PPI ( though I am glad they have) Is this a actuall statement of saying that they mis-sold the PPI?? If the PPI was accepted in the first place then surely they would not stop it unless it was mis-sold, especially as it has not been asked to be cancelled.
Does anyone have the answer or dealing with Abbey and had the same response.
Hopefully my wife will recieve more corraspondance from their Customer complaints dept.
Just a thought, do you think it would be a good idea to take up their offer to make a call, maybe to speed things up??
Thanks. Will keep you updated

My daughter took out a graduate loan from HSBC at what they called a 'preferential rate' but I think it was still over 7%. She rang to cancel it and they said she would have to take out another loan to cover the remaining debt and that it would be at a higher rate so she wouldn't be any better off.
Has anyone done a similar thing but managed to get the remaining debt at the original rate?
She is going under with this debt!0
