This must have been when i was finding out how much settlement figure was and realised the PPI situation and i said over the phone how rediculous it was and that if we had understood what it actually meant we never would have signed for it. It also mentions going to the financial ombidsman and if they have not heard from us in 8 weeks then they will consider the complaint closed.
Now at this time i was involved in moving house it was a difficult time for us, i did not even think we would be able to reclaim anything, that has only become apparant after last week looking on the website and learning more.
What should we reply if they write back that the case is closed (bearing in mind i did not complain to them in writing in 2007 only mentioned it over the phone)
That bit about the complaint being closed is meant that they would take no further action on their part if you didn't respond. It doesn't mean that you have lost your case already. Don't worry about something they probably haven't recorded anyway. If they did record say at the time you weren't in the position to be able to pursue the matter. Now that you are better informed you can do. There is no timescale barr the 6 years on reclaiming as long as you haven't signed anything in full and final settlement.:D0 -
hi
i was just wondering what happened to your claim with ge money
i am in the process of claiming but i am getting sent in all directions.
regards
alan
Hi you have to remember that in some cases the FOS will not be able to get involved as the company may have not signed up to the FOS regulations until after you took out your policy. However they would have signed up to some regulatory body (possibly voluntarily ) which means its them you need to contact not the FOS to deal with your claim. Check that GE money wasn't registered with FISA.0 -
Hi All,
I wrote the following letter to Lloyds today & wondered if you could give it the once over before I submit it please!
I write with reference to the above account & the loan attached to it. The Loan Agreement Number is xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx and I queried the Loan Protection payment on it in 2005 with the intent of removing it.
Unfortunately, I have not kept as close an eye on my account as I should have & only recently noticed that the Loan Protection was still in place. This means I have been paying it since 2005 when I requested it be removed & I’d like to know why this has not happened.
When I called your department on the telephone, I was advised I would receive a call within 24 hours telling me of the status of this query, but called back this morning to be told I was misadvised and that I should never have been told this – that I would have to wait for a decision, but there was absolutely NO idea as to when this would be!
I understand that a strict criteria has to be met as to whether or not I would need this protection & that this area is currently being investigated. As I called to remove this PPI in 2005 (after receiving the loan in November 2004) then I am within my rights to have the PPI both refunded and removed.
I await your swift response.
Thanks very much for reading this!

Ok problem is that if they happen to have lost all record of the phone call. Do you have any documents to back this up or an itemised bill from BT with the phone call as else you are relying on them telling the truth. Good luck and sorry if i've upset you as otherwise its a good letter.0 -
Afternoon,
As this is my first post I will try to keep it simple!
Since 2000 I have held 3x Abbey loans that protection / insurance was included, I paid off the last loan in July 2007. I have the policy start dates and numbers so do I need to request a breakdown of the amounts paid or can I simply reclaim these payments using the template including factual reasons for my request?
Also, I have held an Egg card since 2000 and have been paying PPI from day one! I note a previous post stated Egg were not too helpful when trying to reclaim due to stating the application was made online and it was an option to include PPI. Anybody had any luck?
Lastly, I held an MBNA credit card that I paid PPI on, has anybody had any luck reclaiming with this company?
I hope the above makes sense!
I look forward to any posts that will aid me in this...0 -

I can't post any information on the results but if you look on the PPI thread successes:

They might contain some success stories about MBNA and EGG.
As for your three loans i have successful hit black horse on three consectutive loans which i had. Am now onto the third thorugh the FOS so as to make sure i get the maximum refund.0 -
Thanks for that!
Should I request a breakdown from the various providers or just hit them with the letter?0 -

When you send the "registered letter" ask for you customer credit agreement for the loan's, (1 letter for each loan don't try and cut corners) as they contain the complete breakdown of the borrowing and how much interest and charges they have charged you monthly. This allows you to work out how much the minimum you should be asking back.0 -
I have sent a second letter into lloyds tsb regarding my misold ppi cover on a consolidation loan. I also went into a local lloyds branch and asked for my ppi insurance to be removed. I gave them a copy of correspendants with the bank, and asked to cancel the PPI. They said no one is able to do it currently they will call me back later in the day. No one called me back, so I called them to ask about it. They informed me I would be eligible for a refund, there policy is to only give a maximum of 80% back. They also have a policy of the amount they refund being related to a customer scoring system, I am only entitled to 75% (£3754). They also informed me to do this, I would have to apply for a new loan, as the PPI is linked to the loan and cannot be just taken off each monthly repayment. The new loan has lower payments, but not as low as I would have expected without the PPI.
There offer sounds like they are trying to make me an offer that will preclude me from following it further with the ombudsman to get my full entitlement back. I am not sure what I should do, take the offer or leave things as they stand and continue to pursue things with the ombudsman?0 -

Hi, l have got ppi claims for egg and mbna both with FOS, l think they're really busy as l've heard that lm sort of in a queue. Withbothof these companies they said "you signed, blah, blah"but l think with egg particulaly the ppi is already in the box and it does'nt say optional so you think you have to have it. Also on their tv advert in the small print it says minimum payment plus ppi payments, again implying that it's compulsary.0 -
Hi am waiting for a response to my second letter, does anyone know how they work out the 78% rebate, is it worked out on the whole amount of ppi paid or does it relate to how long you had the loan before you paid it off.
appreciate any replys
thank you.0
