Hi there Thanks for your reply. We applied for the loan by phone. We recived documentation with regards to the PPI and loan. The booklet we have does not clearly state that I am (Mrs Pickup) not covered for accident, sickness and unemployment. It starts by sayi Picture have recommended that we purchase this policy. I cannot see anywhere in the policy booklet that says I am not covered for everyting. The payper work we have signed also does not say I am not covered. Hope this helps. Thank you for you info

Hi. You are entitled to contact Picture asking for an SAR – Subject Access Request. Other members suggest this will cost £10 but you will be able to ask for copies of the taped conversations they eagerly referred to in their response. In any case, the documentation you signed when you agreed the loan should have specified the limitations of the PPI cover. Can I ask how many times you have written to these people already? Taking this case through the Financial Ombudsman Service will take several months, which I appreciate may not be as quick as you’d like. I can point you in the direction of comments made by our mutual friend Tiggrae on 30.12.07 - if you're unsure do as Martin suggests and consult a solicitor or claims management company. If I can be of any further assistance, just drop me a response and I will help as much as I can in the absence of the experts.

Hi there thanks for your reply it is very useful. I will contact Picture with regards the taped conversations. I have wrote to Picture twice now and in process of doing another letter via Martins template. i have also informed Tiggrae of our progress and have read comments from 30/12/07. Thank you. I think we will be in touch with a solicitor ASAP. Let you know anything further.

Part of the Furniture I won, I won, I won!
    Help needed please people!

originally wrote to RBS claiming back PPI on a loan I had a few years back. They sent me acknowledgement letters fairly quickly. My original letter was sent on Dec 11th 07. I am still waiting for a decision from them!

Received a poorly put together letter addressing me as Mrs instead of Miss and then calling me by a totally different surname (My correct address is on the top of the letter) basically saying that they are still investigating.

Is it time to take it further? That last letter arrived about 2 weeks ago.

    Thanks in advance:confused:
  • Natwest - Making things easier !!! Am I stupid? I started applying pressure to get my PPI refunded in October using template and vdue to nature of the reply I followed it up with a personal response.

Since that point I have recieved letter after letter every time I make a phone call for an answer to my questions. Each time they pass me to a different dept under a different handler and set a different date to which they will let me know the outcome of their investigation. The last time they sent a response from the main customer relations dept it said they would contact me within 28 days. They didn't!!! I phoned them after another week to be told that they Would contact me on the 25th of feb (another 20 days on).

I am tearing my hair out. They told me I couldn't talk to the investigating team as they do not take caals from customers! cheek!

They have shown me evidence that on my previous loan with them from 2 1/2 years ago that I did not have PPI, but they can't show me evidence that I did ask for it when this loan was consolidated into a new loan. My argument is that if I didn't have it on the old loan why would I want it on the new loan. They cannot/will not answer this.

Should I have let it get this far? Should I just go to the Onbudsman? Will I wake up and realise it was all a bad dream? Help!!!

Hi again. I've been having a look at Martin's PPI reclaim guide. Take a look at this below:-

Do you have a joint loan but the insurance is only in one name?
If you’ve checked your paper work and have found that all names responsible for paying back the loan are not covered under the insurance, which is unfair in itself as either could be chased for money if you get behind with payments, and were told or thought that all names were covered, go to the how to reclaim section.

    Good luck with the reclaim!

My understanding is that they have 8 weeks in which to respond. I suggest taking this to the Financial Ombudsman Service with a courtesy letter to Natwest letting them know. I would give Natwest a time line showing dates of letters and phone calls since you first contacted them. If they have stated to you that they cant provide evidence that you requested PPI cover then you have every reason to proceed with your reclaim. I appreciate the delays are very frustrating! This might be the course of action that prompts them to deal with your reclaim more effectively, but don't count on it!

In any event, you will have started the ball rolling with the FOS who can put a lot more pressure on if they don't respond. FOS forms can be found in Martin's PPI reclaiming guide.

After receiving a final response from Freedom n reply to my 3rd letter, they refuse to phold my complaint.
Due to loan in 2002....no FSA...not able to use Financial Ombudsman service....only option available is court....can anyone tell me steps to take ?
.....or share their experience if they took this route?
Has anyone used a specialist company that assists individuals to recover money? I know they say it's a free service to use and that fees are levied to your lender in addition to your cliam amount, but is it really ?
Would anyone recommend using this type of service?

A number of the people posting on this forum (including me) appear to receive a letter after about 4 weeks saying they are investigating. The second letter should come 4 weeks after that and will give you their response (following invesitgation). I reckon you should give them another 2 weeks before contemplating further action. ;)

  • Had notice the other day that my complaint was finally being looked at by the FO, I orignally posted it in October against First Plus, so that has taken almost 4 months to be even looked at, so hopefully soon I should have some news to report (please don't hold your breath). Also on a different note I successfully claimed back PPI from HSBC back in November on my loans, I notcied the other day that they had left one loan out, when I found the paperwork in the back of a drawer, they said that they had refunded me on all my loans, so I went back to them saying what I had found. I remember being turned down for the loan originally as I only worked 10 hours a week and therefore could not have the loan, but they contacted me on the way home to say that the manager had approved it and we could go ahead but I must have the PPI which I did not qulaify for as I did not work more than 16 hours a week. I am just wondering why they never refunded me this when I first put in the claim, they paid me for all the others. Maybe it was becasue I had no paperwork and they were hoping I would never find it I had all the paperwork for the others. Never mind I will wait and see what happens. Keep you all posted.
Claimed back almost £4000 so far from HSBC for mis-sold PPI
£2083.00 + £242.00 8% interest from FirstPlus and lower monthly premiums:D Studio Cards paid off my account and gave me £125.00 in gift vouchers. £500.00 Barclays.
  • Hi MISHEL 02
If the ppi is less than £5k take them to small claims court www.moneyclaim.gov.uk it is easy to follow and quicker than the FOS route, it will cost youi a small fee mind, but worth it!
  • HI kaia
Again MCOL is your next option!do it!
If its over £5K I would go through one of those companies simply because its new territory unlike bank charges where everyones (was) a winner!
The MCOL website takes you through different steps and is easy to follow!
