A number of the people posting on this forum (including me) appear to receive a letter after about 4 weeks saying they are investigating. The second letter should come 4 weeks after that and will give you their response (following invesitgation). I reckon you should give them another 2 weeks before contemplating further action.
Thanks :-)0 -
I am trying to reclaim PPI from Bank of Scotland they have just rejected my claim saying that I was sent a booklet of terms and conditions With read this keep it safe on the cover and that is how I should have realised I was not covered and why they did not pay out when i was off sick.
What do others think?0 -
Please tell me it just a glitch that last week when I phoned to follow up my case that my compliance administrator was no longer working there and today - none of their phone numbers work - not even those on the website?
Any point escalating this asap to MCOL - I am worried that going the FOS route will take so long they will have closed up shop by then.....
Any advise greatly appreciated.:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j0 -
I have been reading all the posts with great interest and thought i would share my current reclaiming situation with you and also in the hope that anyone might be able to offer any advice.
I had a loan with first plus which i took out in jan 2004. i sold my house and paid off the loan in october/november 2005 and was amazed when i had to pay over 14000 extra on top of the 65000 loan and interest to pay it off.
i sent the 1st letter to first plus and have received a reply saying they are not upholding my complaint and that i had a policy book and knew i wouldnt receive as much back as i paid off. so very angrily i have now sent a second letter asking for them to look again due to the unfair partial refund.
they seemed to be very quick in telling me i couldnt claim as it was only 2 weeks from when i sent the 1st letter to them that they managed to send me the full reply.
i am concerned they will write back again and say no, has anyone any advice they can offer me.
thanks0 -
I've just written my 3rd letter to first plus.We still have our loan but are claiming for mis-sold PPI.They say it wasn't mis-sold and have offered us £5,500 refund.I won't accept that til i have a copy of the telephone call.Julie:p0

Hi there The loan is in both our names and the insurance is supposed to be in both names. The small print on the loan agreement states that my husband is covered for everything but I am only covered for death. The policy document does not clearly state that I am not covered for all the benefits. it is worded as if we are both covered for all eventualities. This is unfair as you have stressed we are both being chased for the premiums on the loan. I have wrote to Picture twice now and have just sent third letter, with help from Martins template, informing them we will be taking this matter to the FOS and a solicitor if we do not get a satisfactory response. The problem we have is that we do not feel like paying the premiums any more, and also as I have just finished work due to long term ill health, we are reaching the point where we will not be able to meet the payments anyway. We are thinking of selling our home to avoid repossession and go into rented accomodation. All because Picture falsley sold us useless PPI. This policy was for five years but we have to pay for it over the twenty five year term of the loan. How unfair is that. Any further advice would be appreciated.
Regards Dialysis
Hi again. I've been having a look at Martin's PPI reclaim guide. Take a look at this below:-
Do you have a joint loan but the insurance is only in one name?
If you’ve checked your paper work and have found that all names responsible for paying back the loan are not covered under the insurance, which is unfair in itself as either could be chased for money if you get behind with payments, and were told or thought that all names were covered, go to the how to reclaim section.
Good luck with the reclaim!0 -
Hi MISHEL 02
If the ppi is less than £5k take them to small claims court www.moneyclaim.gov.uk it is easy to follow and quicker than the FOS route, it will cost youi a small fee mind, but worth it!
Yet another brick wall for meYou have an address in England or Wales where documents can be delivered0 -
Hello
Can anyone help me and send me a private message please?
I contacted HSBC yesterday via internet banking and asked to cancel my PPI which is costing me £70 a month and has been for the last 4 years. They replied with the following:
Dear Mr Andrew Wailes,
Thank you for your secure e message in regards to Personal Loan protection cancellation.
We will need to take you through an application for the principle sum left on your loan without the protection. It could be done either in the Branch or by calling 0800130130 between 0800 hrs and 2200 hrs. My colleague will be able to assist you over the phone.
Thanking you,
Sincerely Yours,
Suniti Dhyani.
HSBC Direct Financial Services
Should they really have to re-calculate the amount? Any ideas would be appreciated
Thanks
Andy
hi ,, not sure if this will help but my brother had a loan with Halifax and he took their ppi insurance (he was told he had to to get the loan) but when he was made redundant last year he tried to claim and was told he wasn't covered so he told them to refund the ppi and take it off his loan as it was of no use to him
they refused he then told them that if they didn't remove it he would stop paying the loan and see them in court , he received a letter 1 week later giving him details of the amount outstanding on his loan less the ppi amount and his reduced payments he didn't have to apply for a new loan they just adjusted the payments. hoping to be debt free before i have grandchildren!!!!

Had notice the other day that my complaint was finally being looked at by the FO, I orignally posted it in October against First Plus, so that has taken almost 4 months to be even looked at, so hopefully soon I should have some news to report (please don't hold your breath).
thats a longtime!! unless its taken them that long to gather all the information i sent in all copies of my letters and theres and the telephone recordings mind you im sure the FOS are very busy !! will keep pestering them though good luck0 -
Thanks Sheirron0
