    Hi all,

I am just about to write my first letter to try and reclaim PPI on my secured loan which had a single premium payment front loaded which I was not aware only lasted for 5 years, and only covered myself and not my wife although the loan was in joint names. I have looked at the template letters but still cant get my head round what I should be stating on the letter:confused: any advice would be gratefully accepted.
Hi same thing happened to us, we used Martins template letter, all the work is done for you, just print it off:rotfl: just delete what doesnt apply to you really.

Sounds like First Plus to me! :D I wrote saying that they didn't give us all the information. The reply I received stated that they had a call with my husband where it was explained and they send us information in the post and therefore there was no case - blah blah blah. I've written back asking for copies of the docs and a transcript of the call and pointing out that as the PPI only covered me (despite it being a joint loan) then they should have spoken to me about it. Also that they sold it in a "don't worry you can claim it back in 5 years" kind of way and at no point told us that we would be paying interest on it for the life of the loan.

I'll let you know how we get on. Just don't let them put you off! Oh and if it is First Plus you are dealing with then you are likely to get a letter saying they are busy and will deal with it by X date. In our case they put us of for 3 months! I let it go as it was Christmas but now I'm kicking backsides! :D

Hi hang in there - it's all about tactics so don't let theirs put you off - in respect to amex, just start court proceedings they'll pay up - we don't even write and ask now we just go straight to court - ALWAYS get paid out in full !!

    Hi Tiggrae,
Thanks so much for that l feel alot better now, l suppose l was hoping for a quick outcome as we're well into the overdraft as husbands work keeps getting postponed and there's a shortage of cash for a while, but it'll be ok once work gets going again properly.
Shall l threaten them with court or just ask again?

Hi thanks, I have looked at the template letter and having composed 2 letters using it I just dont think I am putting enough content down to state my case. Although they rebated me a little over £2000 when we paid the loan of, it doesnt come close to the £5000 we paid for the PPI in the first place, but I am not sure as to how much of the initial fee we are entitled to:confused: . I have phoned them to test the water and eventually after pressing them they revealed how much the PPI cost us because they conveniently left that of the final paperwork that we signed (con merchants).
Having claimed bank charges and currently claiming card charges thought I had this claim lark sussed!!!!!:rotfl:

Does anyone know if Citifinancial are settling or stringing it out?
    Jo
Hi I am having dealings with citi myself at the moment and they are the kings of BULL!!! They are slow to respond to letters and when they do reply they deny everything and try to baffle you by quoting loads of legal jargon in a feeble attempt to put you of, dont be fooled get tough it appears thats the only language that they understand!!
    Good luck:beer:

hi got my response from first plus not good all the tapes imply we knew what we were getting in too blah blah blah optional policy etc sending me the tapes have wrote back anyway with regards refund of policy being unfair as offerred less than 20% try that route what i would like to know is do they have to rebate it to the loan if the insurance is supposedly from barclays and the policy has been added to the loan why can it not be reembursed direct back to the customer???
  • Hi
Just been refused a claim under the PPI I have with MBNA so am about to request refund as mis-sold. My question is, if I ask for refund of premiums will MBNA stop my credit card or even change the rate? I have an outstanding balance which is at a 'reasonable' rate.
    Thanks
    Sail
