Update re: FirstPlus. Well I have written back to First Plus asking for a copy of the call that they referred to in their letter and also the "Demands and Needs" questions and answers. I have stressed that if I am the only person covered by the PPI then they should have spoken to me and not my husband and I have also told them that at no point did they tell me how much I would be paying back - either for PPI or the loan. I believe they misled me and the cashback offer is a good tool to stop people looking to hard at the PPI!

Out of interest are loan providers are obliged to tell you how much you will pay back? I know this is hard with a variable loan but on setup should they tell you what the payback will be at that interest rate?

Also I have life insurance, I have critical illness cover. The only cover I didn't have was unemployment!

Your customer credit agreement should cover all details including the breakdown of payments (even if its approximate) over the length of the loan with an estimate on how much you are going to pay back.

Thanks. My agreement states the total loan amount, total PPI and the monthly amounts for each of those. But nowhere does it say the total amount payable over the term of the loan - which is partly why I thought the PPI wasn't covered by interest (with hindsight this was damn stupid of me!).

BTW congrats on the baby -shouldn't you be feeding, changing or burping the rugrat rather than being on here?! :D

Hi tiggrae thanks for that baby is fine mum is a lot better (had a very bad tear followed by heamorraging followed by lots of blood loss (nearly lost her but she made it through so big thanks to all the midwives and nurse's at burnley delivery suite)) baby weighed 8lb 2oz as is baby luke (therefore boy boy boy yippeee). Both mum and son are now at home after a 14 hour labour and a 96 hour stay in hospital and mum is under house arrest. Not allowed to lift a finger so i am kept reasonably busy.

but surely it has the loan period and the number of payments give me the details and i'll work out the interest for you. PS only come on here when wifey and baby are asleep for a while.

    Hi Guys

    A bit of advice please.

I had two loans with HFC bank, which were terminated in 2003. I'm sure these included payment insurance, but I no longer have the account numbers or details of the accounts.

Is there a way for me to get hold of this information?

Yes you have to write to HFC main office requesting the information. If they are unwilling to do so then you must pass this as a complaint onto the information commisioner.
  • HELP!

I have been in communication since November with the HSBC, regarding PPI sold on a credit card account I opened back in 94, which I haven't had for the past few years. I have received the standard bog off letters saying the normal " the documents were sent out, I should have read them etc etc etc. After the second reply I have sent a letter asking for a copy of my original application, no reply. 3rd letter sent for a second time, requesting copy of original application. Received a reply yesterday, saying the answer was still no, and due to the time span they no longer had a copy of the original application!!!!!

Where do I now stand. They are saying I should have been aware that payments were on the account, I don't have the original application and nor do they, so how can I prove I did not apply for it?

Also I do not have all the statements and have no way of reaching an amount that I think they owe, also would the figure only been based on payments made in the last 6 years?

What can I do now if anything, am so fed up with it all. Also have a loan with them which, so far have had the bog off letter. Am waiting for reply to second letter! I managed to sail through bank charge reclaiming on just 2 letters!

I seem to not be doing very well with this, is it just luck of the draw? Why does the same bank refund some and not others? I would be glad of anyone's advice concerning what I can do with this now. I don't want to approach the FSA, until I hear what they are going to do with my loan.

Thanks in advance to any help
