Hi Tiggrae, thanks for trying to help, I dont really know how to proceed with it as I was mis sold initially ( not aware PPI was for 5 years only and single cover about as much use as a chocolate fireguard!!!) and I only found out by phoning them how much I had paid for the cover. What do you believe would achieve the best result
This is the link to what the FSA have to say on partial refunds - use what they've said and copy the document to them - the FSA are just what they say the AUTHORITY on FINANCIAL matters how can they argue with that !!

Why not save your self some time phone them up and ask for transcripts rather than audio as there is something wrong with the copies you have.:D
This will allow you to highlight the important parts you need and discard the rest of the dross. Phone them up and get them to clarify that they received a call from you last year (don't mention what it is for) and ask for a copy of that phone (transcript again). If they say they don't keep record's then tell them you would like a letter referencing that they received a call from yourself on said date however they can't say what the call was about as they no longer hold the record. If you got an offer that means that they are trawling (ie they know they were wrong and seeing how much they can pay you off with) if you are happy with 90% offer that as they may say yes. But never drop below 75% its your call how fast you wish for this to be settled and how much you want back. If you go via the FOS it could take 9 months via court 2 months or at the right offer 2 weeks.
any more ideas?? many thanks0 -
OK, so understand that I need to follow the court route, I have looked on the internet and can see that there are some companies who will do this on a no win no fee basis, has anyone had any experience of these companies?
I know that I could do the court route myself but feel it would be easier for someone to do this on my behalf

OH hust discovered PPI on 2 different credit cards, should he cancel straight away, or wait to send a "I'm cancelling and by the way I want my money back" letter?
I suppose what he should do is phone up tomorrow and cancel it straight away. Then we can get onto hunting down statements and preparing letters. Would this be ok?
Thanks all.0 -
When I got my original loan, and was being asked if I wanted PPI, I was told that if I died, they would have to recover the money from my family. I remember being surprised, and said "so if I die, you'll be chasing my mum for the money, even though she's on benefits and has nothing" they said yes. I thought it was unfair but it's what I was told so thought I'd better have the PPI.
Just this evening, mentioned it to my Auntie in conversation and she was shocked, apparently my debt will die with me (unless they take it from my estate), and they can't chase anybody else.
Could anyone confirm that is correct? I'm absolutely fuming! <- see! Fuming!0 -
they sent me a letter stipulating what was said in the conversation I have asked for the tape so i can here it for myself ... regarding the offer i wrote to cancel my policy this is the offer they came up with "the rebate im entitled too" so they havent said they were wrong just that this is supposedly what i am entitled too i need to say why its unfair and for what reason...
any more ideas?? many thanks
First of all don't believe what they dictate what your intitled too. Look at your loan work out percentage which relates to PPI and how extra you've paid so far in interest and how much you would have lost in interest. Then send them that figure and tell them they must revise you're payment plan immediately and interest that you have paid to date has to be taken into account. DON'T let them say you need to arrange a new loan because it isn't true or let them say they need to run a credit check cause this isn't true either.0 -

First of all you can cancel the PPI payments immediately with no effect (Its optional remember) ps you will probably have to confirm in writing (registered). You can request all statements the same way you ask for you're bank charges back and by law they have to provide them (nominal £10 charge possible) if not go to the information commisioner.0 -

Hmmm not so sure of that. All debts do not get wrote off if you die unless you have no relatives (else they are burdened with the bill). Example is death duty, tax etc. In the end they're get there pound of flesh. It comes out of your estate first (what you have left in monetary value) followed by your family.

had our letter from GE Money who own our loan company stating they will investigate and get backto us in 4 weeks..
fingers crossed as i reckon we paid £8000 more than we needed to when we settled the loan!! this would clear the rest of our debt completely!!'Children are not things to be moulded, but are people to be unfolded'0
