    Hi All

    can anyone offer any advice

I took out a secured loan with Paragon in 2002 and a lump sum was added for PPI (£4060). Itried to claim from Paragon but they advised that I need to claim from the broker CentralTrust.

I subsequently sent of the standard letter with 3 issues
    • the salesman stated/implied that taking out the policy would increase my chance of a loan
    • that it was essential for me to get credit to take PPI
    • and that the sales person had no financial background
Central trust have refused my claim for the following
the sale of General Insurance was not regulated until Jan 2005 and prior to this date was sold on an information only basis so the concept of an advised sale did not exist at that time

The Salemans stateed/implied that it would help my application - there response was that they did not tape calls at that time . When the inital pack was issued there would have been docs about the PPI so that it was my decision

And the final issuse - didnt tape calls so it is unlikely that there sales person would have said that it was essential and they are relying on the documents that were sent to support this

so the question is what do I do next? any advice would be gratefully received..

Sorry for such a long post

Standard fob off letter. Send them another letter asking them to reconsider, then threaten to take them to court.

Why can't you do it yourself?

You could also ask here for advice http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/payment-protection-insurance-ppi

  • Just had a "heated discussion" with hubby regarding firstplus offer of £5,059.87!!
He reckons i'm being greedy asking for interest on top of this & i could end up with nothing if i send the letter & they decide not to pay!! He said he doesn't want to see me lose out as i have given a good battle with firstplus so far.
Any thoughts out there?!! Has anyone got as far as a goodwill gesture, pushed for more & won?!

Hi I think you may be out of time on this one - the Statute of Limitations states debts can only be recovered if you have requested them back within the last 6 years

Thanks for the advice thought as much but didn't like the idea of them getting away with it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Hi, I originally posted this elsewhere on the site but with no luck so will try again here. I am in the process of starting PPI reclaims after beating my Bank and 1 credit card(so far!) so I know a bit about the struggle.
In 2004 we took out a joint secured loan with future mortgages which we believe was miss-sold to us, the PPI was lumped on the loan at the start(£30,000 loan) and only covered myself. Our query is that in 2006 we paid of the loan in full (£40,000+) and we received 2 rebate payments in consecutive days from future for £1798.95 and £415.14, does this mean that they have paid out in full and we are not due any reclaim????
    Any advice would be great!!!
  • Hi

I was wondering if someone anyone could tell me where I send the letter to reclaim PPI for the following:-

    Lloyds TSB for loans
    Lloyds TSB for Credit Card
    Capital One Credit Card
    Dorothy Perkins Store Card

Any information would be gratefully received so I can get the ball rolling and start claiming.

    Thanks

    Laura
HI with Lloyds try the customer services department Peterborough addres on statements for both loans and cards, they forward to the relevent department or did for me,as for capital One the address that I have just used is the Nottingham one on the back of the statement.
    Hope this helps:D :D
  • I'm a bit of a technophobe, so not sure if I'm in the right forum here, but I do have a question.

My partner has a PPI that he didn't know he had until I started browsing this website, saw that many people have had success with this issue, and I asked him to check the details of his loan. He discovered that he did indeed have a PPI. On Martin's advice, we duly sent a copy of the template letter requesting a refund of the PPI cost (over £6000) to Barclays Bank as he feels the PPI was mis-sold. He knew nothing about it, and if he had, he would not have wanted it, nor needed it, as his employers have a very generous illness and incapacity benefit scheme which would have covered the cost of the original loan.
Barclays have just responded stating that as the original loan was taken out over 6 years ago it is outside the statute of limitations and therefore they cannot deal with this complaint and therefore we should go to the ombudsman. The loan is still running.
We shall be forwarding the details to the ombudsman, but my question is this: if the loan is still running, how can anything relating to it be outside Barclays' control?
